after we cut gholston, will it allow us to sign a player of his pay rate? if so maybe we can get us a pricey free agent? do i have the signing rules screwed up? anyway ghost is done as a n.y. jet in my opinion. he isnt going to play football like someone who plays for a rex ryan defense. to keep holding on to him is a big waste of money and a spot on the roster that may help us out next year.
It's a bit uncertain as to how UFA status can be acquired to fit the one-to-one rule. The one thing that's not uncertain is: if Gholston is eligible, our ability to sign a free agent would be limited by the first year of the contract he signs, not based on his previous pay rate. Nobody is going to be giving him a big contract.
EXACTLY. 13-3 will make us a shoo-in for homefield throughout. We might be able to pull it off at 12-4, but we'd likely need to beat the Colts during our regular season game.
I believe we would have to give up a 1st and 3rd round pick for an RFA. Since we pick near the end of the first round......well, bears looking into.
If you Hate Rhodes, then you will hate Peppers as well. Guy got the Fchise tag, and played out the season. Jenkins hates him for whatever personal reasons, and we cant afford him. Draft baby, Draft! I dont want another damn Abe on this team!
You mean like he did early in the season before Jenkins was injured? No. He forgot. Completely wiped it from his mind.
No. We can sign a cut player from another team though. Not sure if we're limited to spending the same amount as the teams spend on our guys though...don't think so on cut players.
Clock is ticking on Gholston.. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/f...010-01-27_jets_could_opt_to_cut_gholston.html Taken from Today's Daily News:
For the umpteenth time, you do know that it's not happening because of where we are in terms of playoff ranking and restrictions in a non-cap year, right?
Isn't it just great that Mr. Personality Eric Mangini drafted a guy with no emotion. Why did Tanny listen to Eric about him?
It's come to the point where I've tired of the Gholston discussion. I have been patient and allowed for Rex to try and bring some talent out of this guy but after 1 year with Rex, it just ain't happening with the Ghost. The guy was buried on the bench for a reason. Rex didn't throw him under the bus but I think it's just because he is a standup guy. Time to cut the Ghost and move on. Admit the mistake and use the cash somewhere else. Some other team will cut a useful player we can use his money on.
I think the rule about the final 4 teams and FA may be a blessing in disquise for us in the long run. Maybe we pick up a mid tier FA but it'll force us to use our draft picks on players actually coming out in the draft as opposed to trading them away. We all know that building through the draft is the way to be a consistantly good team and besides the obvious waste in Gholston our draft department has been pretty solid with their picks.
i skipped all the posts from the second page so sorry if someone posted this but it explains everything about the CBA and how it relates to the jets: nyjetscap.com/2010finaleight Per that article, Peppers is out of the question and adalius thomas seems more possible. This is how I would like our draft should play out: DE CB OL Slot WR RB- If tj leaves
