The NFL has changed and we saw it in full color last night. Teams are now (since the greatest show on turf) spreading the defense out and placing the QB in the shotgun so he can dink and dunk the defense. NE, INDY, HOU, DEN, SD,NO,GB,PHI just to name a few. Thing is now more than ever you see the importance with having 4-5 GOOD CB?s on a team. Yes the front 7 is important but when you look at the way these team line up?.it doesn?t matter if you get pressure on the QB because the ball is out in 3sec and the shotgun buys you that extra second. Point is we got beat last night by a team that isn?t better. Truly they arnt. They were just deeper at a position and they exposed us (the Strickland injury and Greene injury were HUGE). I bet you see us crush the market for a few DB?s this offseason. BTW, I hate watching that Finesse football shit?.pussy?s
Meh - The Jets lost their power runner and have a weak crop of CB's As much talk as there was, the Jets weren't really a #1 All Worl Defense YET... Lets rematch with Jenkins on the DL and another CB with Bart Scott healthy and see what happens.... Injuries are no excuse but, this Jets team needed a miracle and you're not getting a miracle with key people riding the bike.
Keep telling yourself that and you might feel better but the truth is we got beat by a much better team.
Right after that one play where Manning got the Jets with too many men on the Field (Which was BS since the Colts weren't set - BS Mannning call).... The Colts started to march - I was looking for Scott the rest of the game... The announcers go on and on about Mannging figuring things out - Meanwhile the Jets have the Defensive captain on the sidelines and a Special Teams DB playing Linebacker.... Also with the CB's all dinged but Revis. HELLO - It's as if Arod and Jeter are on the bench and no one says anything except the yankees not scoring much. It's as if Manning is on the bench and no one says anything except "wow the Jets D really looks good all of a sudden, man did they just started to magically click"
Totally agree. The injuries are just a means for some people to justify the loss some other way. The Colts were 14-2 for a reason.
While we need a stronger, healthy secondary, Rhodes needs to shit or get off the pot. Strickland and Lowery need to step up, lito is playing like shit. The pass rush is vital, our d line when healthy is great, but we need a young de thats a pass rush specialist. Too much time in the pocket, we all saw the results.
we need to get our offense up to speed with the rest of the contenders. The rules in this league wont allow anyone to completely shut down a Manning or a Brees. We need a couple more weapons. AND A PASS RUSHER OF COURSE....our top priority is not looking for three more DBs
We need a good #3 receiver. That's one thing that needs to be found for the offense. I think that Edwards & Cotch are more than adequate at WR. Especially if Edwards solves his dropping issue. At RB we have two weapons, at TE we have a weapon. Sanchez will only get better as he progresses. So I'm not too worried about the offense. I think this team needs a top CB, a pass rusher and a #3 receiver and they'll be very dangerous.
I said it in another thread, Lowery has the skills to be a great CB but lacks the experience and proper training. He needs to spend the off season with Revis & his trainer. They would make a formidable tandem barring injuries.
I think you might need 4 WRs in this day and age. We do not need another "top" corner. It would be nice but I dont see anyone with two shut down corners. Pass rusher definitely trumps that need for us at this point
Leon. Small, shifty, fast, and great hands. Throw Leon in as a receiver with TJ or Green in the backfield. Keller, Cotch, & Edwards at the line.
The Chargers won 11 in a row for a reason too and were the favorites to goto the Super Bowl, NOT the Colts. The injuries killed the Jets. I wonder if Jet had speared Peyton like Sanchez got hit and Peyton had to miss the 2nd half with back spasms if that would have been considered relevant ?
I was saying to my Dad during the game- What do the Colts have razors and barbed wire taped on them. It seemed like there was a Jet fan going down every 5 minutes- This was the year of the Passer without a doubt. The Colts/Saints are a mirror image of each other, should be a great game. This has to be the first time both #1's in the league made it in a long ass time.
It's a cycle that goes around. But this new wave isn't necessarily the way to a championship Since the 1999 Rams look at the teams that have won Super Bowls SB XXXV - Baltimore - All-Time Great defense; great running game SB XXXVI - New England - Great defense; very solid running game SB XXXVII - Tampa Bay - Great defense; good running game SB XXXVIII - New England - Very good defense; decent running game - good passing game SB XXXIX - New England - Very good defense; very good running game - good passing game SB XL - Pittsburgh - Very good defense; very good running game SB XLI - Indianapolis - bad defense (until postseason); okay running game - very good passing game SB XLII - New York Giants - Very good defense; good running game SB XLIII - Pittsburgh - Very good defense; solid running game - good passing game
This is by far one of the most ignorant posts I have seen on this message board. I'm not sure how you define the term "better", but that is exactly what happened. The Colts had "better" stats in that game, a "better" score and the end of the game, and a "better" record this season. They probably could have gone undefeated had they not pulled their starters in the last 2 games... one of which allowed you a playoff berth to begin with (after your coach publically wrote you off following the Falcons game) Truth be told, the Chargers were a "better" team, but the Jets were able to capitalize on some uncharacteristic mistakes, penalties, etc. and pull out a win last week. Unfortunately, lightening didn't strike twice for you. I was kind of pulling for the Jets too... after that nonsense the Colts pulled on their fans, pulling the starters in your first meeting. Additionally, Sanchez is an SC guy, and I live in So Cal. That said, I am not emotionally invested in either team so I can remain a bit more objective about the game I watched yesterday. Losing sucks... I know, I am a Chargers fan. You guys have a great young QB who is only going to get better... a solid defense, and a great backfield, and a good coach. The future looks pretty promising for Jets fans as far as I am concerned. Take a few days to get over the loss (like I did) and then put things in perspective.... $.02
I don't know if I agree look at the steelers and giants who are the last champs. Plus NE also won because of their defense!!
the nfl is changing but the colts are still a better team b/c they are better at nfl football its a dome league
If you don't think injuries were the reason we lost 30-17, you're just wrong. I'm not saying we win if Strickland and Greene play the whole game, but we certainly wouldn't lose by 13.
