I'm not a sore loser and am very proud of what our boys accomplished this season against all odds BUT I will not watch this superbowl because I hate Manning even before today and secondly they just gave New Orleans that game instant replay dont LIE. I probably dislike Favre more than Manning but cant digest when CBS tells you the lineup they want for the bowl and the NFL delivers this is B---S---!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i am interested in hearing the explanation on the Thomas 4th down play where he jumps, loses control of the ball, and recovers it. Why doesn't that ball get moved back to where he regained possession? The Meacham catch really looked like the ball hit the turf....Brees had the ducks on order late in that game. Of course Farve having a chance to run 7 yards so they can attempt a game winning FG and throwing an INT instead was a nice ending. Look forward to seeing Tavaris Jackson next season playing against us.
Fuck that shit, those calls were ridiculous. It's an insult to the game when calls like that are made. He clearly did not make the first down on that 4th and inches.
There really weren't any bad calls that cost the Jets the game... I'll give you the bullshit non roughing call against Sanchez but that play doesn't make up 13 points.
I am glad the Saints won, but I would still be interested on those rulings and if they were interpreted correctly.
I assume that the Thomas play was based on forward progress, since he didn't actually lose possession of the ball. I also felt that the Meachem catch was good, and certainly wasn't enough to overturn. So, I guess that means I disagree with the specific examples you gave. Much more to the point, I think that the idea that there is some vast conspiracy between the NFL, the officials, and CBS is absurd.
If it really was rigged to give TV stations the "dream matchup", wouldn't that favor the Jets? I mean, you'd probably make a decent buck appealing to the New York market...
Not to mention that if it WAS true, CBS would be slobbering all over themselves to get Favre in the SB.
I may have implied that not saying they did it on purpose but its done none the less as for the supposed Meachem catch the ball did hit the ground.
Very true - Manning/Favre would trump Manning/Saints by a lot. Of course, we will now hear all about how Manning was raised in New Orleans, the Archie Manning connection, etc.
I can sort of understand it when people talk about the world series and "dream match ups" but this is the fucking Super Bowl. Pretty much everyone in America is going to be watching the game and the commercials regardless of what two teams are playing.
Obviously I disagree, and so did others in the game thread at the time. Anyway, as devil pointed out, the decisions went against the dream matchup (Manning versus Favre), not for it.
Not sure what calls in the Saints game you mean? No way they could overturn either of the reviewed calls based on what the replays showed. Favre and the Vikings managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory all by themselves. That stupid 12 men in the huddle penalty, and Favre making a rookie mistake and throwing against the grain.... He could have run for 5-10 yards and longwell would have had a shot to win it right there...
I guess you guys did read where the exec at CBS said the ideal matchup was Saints/Colts and would mean 4 million more viewers than if it turned out to be Jets/Vikes look it up
