We get 2 sacks on Manning within the first 5 minutes of the game and then nothing the rest of the game ?

Why did they de-emphasisze the blitz ?

    1) The Colts have an excellent offensive line. They did a great job giving Manning and the receivers time all day.

    2) Manning is the best QB in the business at feeling the rush. He knows when he needs to get rid of the ball quickly and where to put it.

Peyton Manning happened to the pressure. He figured the D out after about a quarter and a half and knew exactly where the pressure was coming from on every play. That let him change up his calls to account for it and proceed to pick us apart. Don't sweat it man, the Jets got beaten by a robot today.

4 receiver sets (3WR and Clark) forced a lot of nickel and Bart Scott being ineffective with the bad ankle really caused issues.

Pace had a huge play on the fumble which was basically a strip sack. The Colts explosive pass rush managed 0 sacks.

They went from deep-developing pass plays to quick 3-step drops and slants. Those are tough routes to get to the quarterback on.

Actually, the Jets blitzed a lot today...the Colts O line picked it up after Peyton began to recognize the scheme. The deep ball had an adverse impact on your teams willingness to bring the house and when your corners cheated up, Peyton checked to a run and that's why your team got gashed in the run.

Your team blitzed too much and that caused the deep catches by Collie and Garcon...not to mention the Dallas TD.

The Jets weren't getting pressure against Manning in the first game either. It is a problem this defense has had all year, there are no pass rushers, that's why they need so many exotic blitz packages. A guy like Manning will pick you apart for that...fortunately he is probably the only one that can. The defense definitely had to play better, but you're not beating Peyton Manning without more scores on offense.

Strickland went down and we had to shuffle our DBs, putting Drew Coleman in. That basically equates to a hole in the secondary. Manning ripped that hole, as well as Lowery, apart.

In retrospect the Jets getting those 2 early sacks worked against us. The Colts knew it wasn't because of personnel. It was because of scheme. Once Peyton made the adjustments, we were screwed.
