I think we have a good shot but I certainly would not be shocked at all if we lost a close game. The only thing that would truly surprise me is a blowout by either team. This game has "close, low-scoring" written all over it.
Serously, I have no problem with someone, even a Jet fan, fearing a loss. Hey, it's not like we've never seen the Jets lose a big game before. But getting down into the analysis put forward, I thought it notable that the OL didn't get much attention. A different thread is talking about the Jet OL being the best in the league. Well, I think it CAN be the best when it is on, as it certainly was last week. And at other times this season, really a lot of times. But not always, and that is perhaps in the nature of things. So, will the Jet OL play as well tomorrow as it did last Sunday? If it does, I think the Jets will win, unless of course there are alot of Jet turnovers. And this is what is missing from the OP's analysis: Sure, the Bengals will likely stack the box and try and contain the running game. But if the line can hold and allow Sanchez time to make some easy short throws to keep the Bengal D more honest, that will be key to a Jet win. I think the CS has come up with an approach that relies first on the rushing attack, but also employs Sanchez just enough with pass plays that are higher percentage than the stupid downfield passes into double and triple coverage we've seen him attempt at his worst. I'm also crossing my fingers about the decline in fumbles we've seen of late. If the Bengals can't deal with the Jet OL, and the Jet OL plays up to its ability, that should be the difference.
The last time Rex Ryan went off half-cocked and started talking about his team like they were world beaters the Jets came out and went 3-0 to open the season. I could use a little bit of that 3-0 action right now. I'll take my chances in the Super Bowl.
EXACTLY and I'm glad somebody finally pointed it out...this is exactly the "I didn't come here to kiss Bellishit's rings" part 2 thing.
i have a dream....or should i say nightmare last night that the jets lost the game and woke up thinking it was real....damn that sucked...i was so happy to realize that the game didn't take place
ESPN Game simulation predicts Jets win if Thomas Jones averages 4.5 yards/carry. espn.go.com/blog/afceast/post/_/id/8848/video-bengals-hold-slightest-edge-on-jets Doesn't mean sh*t, but Jenny Dell sure is a hottie. Worth watching just to see her talk about the Jets.
Honestly I hope we win this game just to shut up everyone at ESPN for thinking we don't deserve to be in the playoffs, to shut people up like Fat Francesa and pretty much everyone at ESPN, and what would make this game icing on the cake if we won is that if Sanchez had a GOOD game, whatever if we don't deserve to be here, let's show them why we should, God PLEASE WIN Jets to shut up the haters, we have to be the most bashed playoff time of ALL time
Threads like this should be warrant a ban. If you can't get amped in the playoffs and stop being a darksider then how the fuck can you call yourself a fan.
The Draft is not this weekend but I?m deservedly back to eat some serious crow?I was wrong? This team has made a believer out of me, I?m sold hook line and sinker?its one thing to run the ball and play great defense its quite another to make it your philosophy and consistently perform when it counts?Rex has made us a contendor, simply amazing? I remember those 2001 Patriots?I just never thought they would win the SB let alone three, they never blew anyone out, they never had a ?look? of a champion and it always seemed that the next team would have their number BUT they kept on winning?I see the same with thing with this team they will do anything for the W?
Just think though, if the jets lose, no skin off your back, "playing with house money", weren't supposed to be here, etc. IF the colts lost, it is a failure of monumental proportions, that will live forever. You guys are getting off easy if you lose, even after all the typical Rex BS. That said, Colts 24, Jets 13. If (when the jets lose) see above for what you will hear on the forums.
Listen, you guys are doing great and should be happy. But if I were in your shoes, (which I was in the 90's) I would back up a little and take a wait and see attitude. But, when you are playing with house money, I guess I can forgive you for being giddy about your team. But you have to admit, that if the jets lose, you guys will be a force in the upcoming years, barring unforeseen circumstances. What I don't understand is why jets are so surprised that colts fans are confident. Ummmm, most wins in a decade maybe? Sure, the jets could win, that's why they play the games. But some of you guys act like the colts have no chance. Absurd.
Funny, mine was the opposite...a 20-17 win, and I woke myself up thinking it was real but instead was terribly disappointed.
I think that 99% of us would not agree that the Colts have no chance, that's just foolish. But Rex and the teams confidence has rubbed off on us!
Jenny Dell is amazing. Where the hell did this girl come from? Also, I dont think any Jets fans want to hear anything about how the Colts will dominate and conversely I dont think any Colts fans want to hear how the Jets will win. I would have trouble expecting to lose if I watched my team win 15 of 17 games played this season, and thinking to myself that the two losses were resultant of our team tossing an intentional walk. It's easy for a Colts fan to expect that this Jets team is a carbon copy of the Ravens team that got dominated last week as well as every previous incarnation of Rex Ryan's defense. However, this is a vastly different team. The Ravens use their blocking scheme and backs differently, the Jets have much better receivers, and the Jets defensive front is much more versatile than the Ravens' front. The Ravens D opts to take more chances on defense which leaves them vulnerable for big plays while there is much more coverage and diversity on the Jets' D. Fact of the matter is - The Jets are a bad matchup for the Colts, much in the same way as they were a bad matchup against the Chargers. The only thing that I think could possibly tip the scales towards the Colts would be Manning's pre-game prep and the Colts' homefield advantage. This game will come down to the turnover battle.
How can I quote someone on this board? I don't see a button for that. The only quote button I see is on my own posts.???
Anyway, guys and gals, a lot of you are true football fans and are VERY excited about the possibilities. Which you should be. Who would have thought that the jets would be in the AFC Championship game? Enjoy the ride. In the end it doesn't matter what anyone on these boards says. Last time I checked, the game was played on the field, not message boards. I just have a problem with some posters that think the colts are lucky to be here, and are vastly overrated. Any jets fan that is not nervous about this game, is a fool, or too arrogant for his own good.
