Brown is too injury prone to be counted on as anything more than a back-up. He is certainly talented, but just can't stay on the field going back to his CU days.
Here are some guys I would take a long look at: Charles Grant DE New Orleans would be an ideal 3-4 DE across from Ellis. He should be our top priority in free agency. He will cost us deply against the salary cap but it would be well worth it IMHO. Montrae Holland OG New Orleans was considered the top guard in New Orleans prior to the start of the season but lost his job while recovering from knee surgery. Nobody is talking about this guy but he is the smsh mouth guard we need to improve our running game. He has started at both guard positions so he gives us flexibility as well. John Stinchcomb RT New Orleans RFA was taken with the fifth pick in round two by the Saints a couple years ago and became their starting right tackle. Unless the Saints give him the high tender, we could get him for our lower second round pick (if we give him a contract the Saints can't / won't match). I was thinking about Tony Ugoh or Arron Sears with our first second rounder but Stinchcomb would be a better addition than either one of them and we could use the Skins second rounder to fill other needs. Eric Johnson TE San Francisco is a very good tight end but not as good as Vernon Davis. The 49ers loss is our gain. Brandon Short OLB NY Giants started for the G-Men last year. He is about three inches taller than Hobson and should be an upgrade until we can improve the position through the draft. I think he would be a bagain as he isn't getting much attention. Donnie Nickey SS Tennessee is coming off of his rookie contract. Solid player and a hard hitter with a lousy team. This is a smart tough player that we can have on the cheap to improve our secondary. Dominic Rhodes RB Indianapolis is a good pass blocker and durable tough rusher. He can hold the fort for a year or two with Leon Washington until we can add more talent later unless we steal a stud RB late in the draft. Cory Schlesinger FB Detroit is a tough unsung player that can open bigger holes than any of the stiffs we currently have on our roster at FB.
How can you never like him as a runner in college? The guy was great in college, there was nothing not to like.
a few i'd like to see the FO look at(no specific order) 1. asante samuel...i'd overpay to solidfy the secondary 2. adrian peterson...the guy is a beast special teamer 3. eric johnson...good te for a committee at te...for some reason i think we draft and sign a te 4. terdell sands...a body for the dline 5. shaun mcdonald- the top 4 wrs are too expensive/#1/#2 wrs and 5/6 suck...mcdonald is competition for the #3.......i'd be interested in crayton if his tender is low i found it interesting that clement wasnt even on the OT's list
