Couple messages: 1) Thank you. For the present, and for the NFL's best foundation. 2) Sunday Playcalling - when Brad Smith takes the snap under center, teams have focused the safeties and LB's on the edges. If you use #16 in obvious run downs to simply hand the ball off, the middle will be softer - please consider. 3) Revis hasn't blitzed once this season. Blitzing him is so preposterous that it may work. That is simply because it's one thing that's not going through #18's mind. If we have him lined up on the blind spot with a clear pre-snap path, it could catch a guy who is never off guard, off guard. My sense is that #24 is probably our best DB blitzer since Victor Green, and we never do because of his value elsewhere. Good time to bring that out. 4) Thank you for sticking to your guns, keeping up the run, going back to man coverage, going for it on 4th and 1, and kicking that FG. They were all (IMHO) the right moves, and showed an obvious knowledge of risk management. 5) Thank you for not being Herm Edwards. 6) Thank you for everything you've done in the draft. Whether Gholston was your choice or not, he's on your record. And for Jet fans to cheer your draft record with Gholston on it, you know you've done something special. You have. In absolute terms, and relative to the ghosts of Jets draft past. 7) A partridge in a pear tree. 8) Please figure out what to do with Dallas Clark. Double him with a S or LB, anything. That man is a menace to us. 9) Please wake up Westhoff. His usual ST dominance seems to be under it's usual level. 10) Please say hi to #29 and #77. And thank you for not missing a beat when we lost 2 guys who give opposing coordinators nightmares. Guys like #77 who force OL double-teams are usually irreplacable - handling that task is good supporting evidence that Rex is a great one. 11) 4 golden rings 12) Again, a heartfelt thank you.
Tanny, Thank you for insisting that Revis signed a six year contract as a rookie despite the whining in the forum to just sign him for 5 and get it over with.
the only way a revis blitz would work is on a 3 or 5 step drop and the rb/fb already blocking somebody else if it takes more than 2 seconds for revis to get there, manning will notice the likely open reggie wayne i guess its worth a shot, but if peyton is in the shotgun it could go for a long gain. if he's under center the worst i can see happening is 15-20 yard gain
Dear Rscherwin, Thank you for your heartfelt though savvy-less suggestions. We will not take them into consideration.
Revis has blitzed several times. Definitely enough for the Colts to have reviewed tape on it. At this point in the season, plays succeed because the players are that good and the execution is perfect, not so much because they're taking the other team by surprise.
