Here is a stat I did not know... didnt see it posted anywhere... but Mike and Mike just reported as the show was closing today that Sanchez has tied the Jets Franchise record for career playoff wins. as a rookie! You better believe that he will own the record before he retires, and hopefully before the end of the week!:up: On another point, how sad is it that in a single postseason a rookie could tie or even set a record of this magnitude?
That is amazing. Sanchez started the season on fire, regressed a bit and went through the crucible of criticism and losing, and is now maturing and gaining confidence before our eyes. Rex has given the rookie just enough responsibility, without putting the team on his shoulders. This insane defense is a rookie QB's best friend.
2 amazing things, one was o'brien never won a playoff agme and 2 is Chad is the only QB to lead a playoff win in 2 different postseasons. It's pretty pathetic but hopefully those days are long gone and sanchez will shatter all Jet QB records for playoff and SB wins.

O'Brien never winning one is amazing. It's also odd that he was the QB for 3 playoff teams (minus the late stretch of the 86 season) and never won a playoff game.
I have never even thought those 2 words would go together in a sentence.....I will be perfectly happy with a trip to Miami in a few weeks to start things off!!
He also should have the Jets franchise QB rating record in the playoffs, and he might have it for a rookie in the playoffs. Currently is is at 92-ish I believe. He'll also have the record as youngest SB winning QB, and that'll never be broken.

Todd's 2 playoff wins came in the 82 season. The blowout in Cincinnatti and the close win in Oakland. Then came the mud bowl. Looks like we wont have to worry about rain and poor field conditions in Indy.

Right now, I'll settle for a Super Bowl win and move on from there. I don't want to jinx things by using the D word too liberally.
I don't care much about jinxes, but to me dynasties are 3 or more years, so it's not even worth talking about right now, or next year either. Obviously a team record of two postseason wins for a QB is beyond pathetic, so let's hope that Sanchez completely obliterates that record, starting with this year.
How did Namath only have 2 wins? Didn't he win 3 games (Divisional - AFL Championship - Super Bowl) in 1968 alone?
Only 2 teams in the AFL were supposed to make the playoffs in 1968. They expanded to 4 the next season. KC and Oakland tied in 1968, so they played a game to decide who went to the AFL championship game.
O'brien had a big advantage over Tony Eason in 1985 but the Pats just outplayed the Jets. In 1986 he was pretty beat up with injuries, Pat Ryan got the starts. 1991 was probably the worst for O'brien, Jets should have won that game agains the Oilers... I remember him really blowing it on a late INT thrown in the Oilers endzone. It is amazing with 50 years of history we have, Sanchez has tied the franchise mark in 2 weeks.
