After every game there are always a couple of apprecitaion threads about non-star guys (Pouha, DeVito, Thomas, E Smith, B. Smith. ecc). Now there are two explanations for this: 1) We have A LOT of hidden gems in our roster (unlikely) 2) Rex can motivate his players 110% and make them play as a team. This is the greatest feat a football team can accomplish... that whoever goes in and plays, plays to his maximum and gives everything for the team and the organization. Sure, it's right to give our comprimary players kudos but the biggest appreciation thread should be made for Rex because I think it's his merit if those guys are playing like they NEVER did before. Some guys here on TGG say that all players ar equally motivated in important games because... but that's not true IMO. Great coaches always get their player to give 10% than they can and this is what makes them great coaches. so KUDOS REX for making this organization a FOOTBALL TEAM!
amen to this. he really gets these unsung heroes to step up and play bigger than they ever have. hell he even motivated rhodes yesterday
Meeh... you are kind of right... but I think Rex at least got him to understand he isn't part of the vegetables world and is actually a human being. In this off-season Rex (along with Westhoff and Pettine who I think are high motivators too) has to make him do the extra jump and realize he is a football player. Yeah but at least he's been a HC at collegiate level... It's so cool that one of the HC in the SUperbowl will be a rook... has it ever happened?
I think Barry Switzer and George Seifert were both rookie Head Coaches. Not sure though. As a Colts fan, I like Rex Ryan alot. I liked him as the DC in Baltimore and as the Head Coach in NYJ.
Maybe Gholston is a simply a system player (as in Ohio State's d system) and really just isn't that good.
Gholston is a physical stud that needs to learn how to play football... problem is he doesn't want it.
