Oh i certainly agree with you, I was just pointing out there are only 3-4 guys I would consider letting walk after this year, and those two make the list due to age, and fanecas insane contract and overall piss poor play this year. Hes been great of late, but not all year.

But like I said no reason to remove them without being 99.9% sure we have a more than adequate replacement on the roster/ about to sign with us/be drafted

i'm starting to think maybe the jets should hold onto rhodes. his benching seems to have straightened him out a bit.

don't mess with the o-line. it is way too good. linemen can go longer than most other positions. with no cap, who cares what the salaries are?

I'd re-sign Dearth, Richardson, Feely, Douglas, E. Smith, B. Smith, Washington, Ihedigbo, Murrell, Clowney and Edwards. Let the rest walk or see if they'll stay on for very little.

It also wouldn't be a bad idea to give Harris an extension instead of waiting for next year.

Lock up Revis and Harris right now. With no salary cap, this is the year to do extensions.

My list down to the letter. As MBGreen said, we should be utilizing the draft right now, not bringing in more elder statesmen.

I think Mangold/Dbrick should be extended as well.

yepp! extend mangold, brick, harris and revis with big signing bonuses and small yearly contracts ... pay fanneca the same hes gettin next year but in bonuses, and restructure him to a contract thats more cap freindly for the future ... cut gholsten!

if woody is willing to drop the dough now, this team could be set up (cap wise) for the rest of the decade

oh and go after julius peppers, if the cba rules allow it ... hes been itching to play in a 3-4 scheme for years and rex would find infinite ways to utilize him!

OK, I've read this whole thread and I'm still unclear on our restrictions. Plain English?

basically, you cant sign a free agent until you lose one of your own ... in addition there are salary restrictions as to how much you can offer those free agents

The Super Bowl is February 7th, the new fiscal year is March 1st. I'm not going to start freaking out about the FA situation until at least Feb 20 if there is no progress.

Plus, I like this team pretty much as it is as far as the starters go. Just a couple of additions which could easily be draft picks and we are set. No reason to go on another spending spree, just fill in a few spots on the second string. The only thing that I would worry about is Woody, Faneca, or Moore dropping off after this season but I really do not see that happening.

    Money Restrictions

    Just found this from Kirwan:

I'm not really liking that idea...

Kirwan mentions first year salary restrictions for free agents. Are there any signing/roster bonus restrictions though? One would think that would be the simplest loophole around any salary restriction.

I'm not sure if that just covers yearly salary or total salary including bonuses. It could be a way of forcing teams to invest more guaranteed money to attract players or it could just be a cap on total money spent to an individual. That's what I hate about this uncapped season. Every article has some new wrinkle in it and just when you think that you have digested that one the next article brings up another restriction. There has so far been no clear, definitive description of the 2010 uncapped year.

I agree our O line has played how many games together in a row and has led us to a number 1 rushing attack. It would be rediculous to want to break them up.

Once the cap is gone -- which may or may not happen, there will never be a cap again. You can't take it away and then re apply it -- that would be a nightmare of proportions that I can't even begin to imagine.

Nonsense. There will be a cap following the uncapped year. The only nightmare scenario involved would be NOT reapplying it.

Wow even after a bad loss the Patriots seem to benefit a great deal.
