All this talk of Woodson vs Revis as DPOY. I don't think it's ever happened but I don't think it's too farfetched for Revis and Woodson to both win and split the award as CoDPOY. Even if it won't happen I think it serves as a disservice to either of these guys for not getting the award. What they've done this year in the CB position is remarkable

I still think people need to compare the level of competition these two guys had. Revis doesn't get to play 2 pick machines twice a year in Cutler and Stafford like Woodson does.

A mod can edit in a 'both' option, or a poll works too. Yeah, I'll add a poll

I remember a few years back McNair and P. Manning split the MVP award. I've never heard of splitting the DPOY, but I don't doubt that it's possible. Of course, it all probably comes down to how they split the votes..

I don't think the level of competition is really that much different. Revis saw Jamarcus Russell, Josh Freeman, Jake Delhomme, Chad Henne (2), Ryan Fitzpatrick (2).

All, with Sanchez are among the lowest rated QBs in the league. It's pretty equal on that level. Revis isn't as much of an interception corner than a deflection corner. If he was, QBs in the AFC East would have more interceptions.

Revis has played unreal this season. He is by far the best CB in the league and maybe even the best defensive player. But he also has dropped a few INTs that he should have had and also let Ted Ginn score a TD on him that ended up costing us. If he makes that pick at the end of the Falcons game, there's no doubt he would win the DPOY award, IMO. I still think he deserves it, but as crazy as it sounds, he has the potential to have a better season sometime during his career.

The man's freaking human after all. (I know, blasphemy!) He's not going to be perfect. That TD to Ginn was a blemish on an otherwise perfect season (that pick during the Atlanta game would have been an outrageous play, he came halfway across the field just to dive and deflect it).

Peyton Manning split the MVP a few years ago with McNair so it is possible to split the DPOY.

The receivers Revis faced were much more difficult though.

I didn't mean to nitpick. What Revis has done throughout this season is nothing sort of outstanding. He's asked to go up against the NFLs top WRs week in and week out on an island. The fact that I can only point to a couple of plays where he wasn't "perfect" shows you what kind of season he has had, and it's even more impressive considering the responsibility he has.

I've just heard on ESPN that the knock on Revis in the DPOY debate is that he doesn't have good hands and doesn't make "game changing plays". Now I know that that is complete B.S., but people that don't watch the Jets games and only look at the stats will believe that

Personally I expect Revis to be robbed. People have a dumb obsession with touchdowns and pretty return stats, which is why Woodson will win the award in my opinion. I can't see them splitting, although I think Revis deserves far more than any kind of split.

Seriously, his worst day was giving up something like 30 yards. That's unreal.

..And Woodson faced Boller, Stafford, Cutler(x2), Hasselbeck, Leinart, DA, Alex Smith, Freeman, and Drew Stanton. He and Revis definitely did not face the same level of competition at QB or WR yet Revis has Woodson beat by a significant margin in every coverage stat besides interceptions. I'm sure that sounds incredibly biased coming from a Jets fan, but it is what it is.

And to answer the question, no, that won't happen. I agree with ^^, Revis is going to get robbed. And I wasn't going to go so far as to call you an idiot but see I don't have much choice.. heh heh

So essentially, despite outperforming Woodson as a CB, Revis would need to have a perfect season to win DPOY.

Maybe if/when he loses, he'll realize what it takes to win and he'll give us 20 INT's with 10 return TD's and 54 passes defended next year. Every wide receiver he faces will have 0 catches for 0 yds and 0 td's. And even then he'll still lose to Demarcus Ware breaking the sack record or something

If he picked off that 3rd down pass against Atlanta before the Gonzalez TD, there wouldn't be a debate. That's the thing that pisses me off about this. It's all about the stats, not the performance.
