WOW. I know Tebow played against tougher competition, and only used a situational player his freshman year (like Smith is being used now), but those rushing stats Smith had are nuts for a QB.
Tebow mostly ran the small on down and short, or short and goal. Definitely not with Brad Smith open field speed.
Some guys fit a prototypical position, and some guys are just football players that make things happen due to their athleticism. Percy Harvin is good example this year.

Mangini tried Smith at QB for a while, I remember it not going that well, now everyone wants him to throw it.

Except for the fact that Smith only threw three passes in Mangini's three years here...

He never really did throw it before.

They tried him in camp and pre-season at QB, he never did that well, probably why he didn't throw much in real games.

i mean if you get the dbs to come up if they are thinking run your gunna have numbers in the secondary. I think smith cud make a pass in that situation no one is asking him to thread the needle in double coverage

I don't doubt Smith can burn them with a throw out of the wildcat formation, it's just funny that he busts some big plays and now everyone is thirsting for him to be throwing the ball. It wasn't long ago people wanted him cut from the team.

you knows "its what have you done for me lately" league, and lately he has been one of our best players. I dont think they should come out throwing against cincy, but its nice to have that in your back pocket

that's what I love. Fans now want him to throw the ball in a playoff game because its due to work.

But when it happens, and it goes wrong, and they kill Schotty for it, they'll forget about wanting to see it all week.

    Stupid fans.

Remember when we had Leon Johnson and Ray Lucas throwing the ball with our season on the line in Detroit? That went well, and that was Parcells calling the shots.

Well this would be the reaction from a lot of the Jets fans. For me, the way they attempt it will have more meaning then actually pulling it off.

I think the best situation for Smith to throw would be on a Flea Flicker with Shonne Greene in the package. The play would go something like this: Brad Smith in shotgun with Greene to right. Snap. Hand off to Greene. Flea Flicker back to Smith. Then Smith throws to a wide open Edwards, Clowney, Woodhead or Cotchery depending on who is in there.

That would be awesome. Throwing the ball, is throwing the ball playoffs or not. A guy who threw for over 8,000 yards in college should be able to hit a wide open receiver in the NFL. Im not saying make the man our starting QB, but why not use him in a few more wild cat packages. If they start stopping his runs, let him throw a few just to show he can.

Imagine next year with Leon back, we could do the who seminole play, with a pitch back to smith lined up as a wide out, who could then pass. We have the players to be as effective as any team in the league out of the wild cat.

I wanna see a flea flicker on the very first play. Have smith run it, then everyone thinks hes going to throw it, instead he lattarels it to Sanchez and Sanchez bombs it to the endzone.

shotgun with sanchez as receiver...fake the handoff to greene, run right, then throw across the field to a streaking sanchez for a td!
