For what it is worth, I talked to my moms orthopedist (not giving out his name) a little a couple days back about some injections for her knees. I live in San Diego but he is out on Long Island, and he mentioned he likes the Jets. I asked him his thoughts on Pennington. He said something interesting. He said that rarely do the shoulders get back to the exact level they were before the operation. That made sense to me but then he said that in many cases, the surgery fixes a weakness that was always there and the shoulder actually gets better. On Pennington he suspects he has had a weakness or strain there for a very long time, one that the first operation did not fix. The part that was fixed might have created a bigger imbalance in his shoulder, causing the second tear. Even though it was not fully developed strength wise, it was stronger in terms of resistance to tears, so the part that was always a little off was the part that ripped this time. In fixing that, Pennington's shoulder may actually be better in the end than it has ever been for the Jets and less succesptible to injury. But...... Two injuries could also mean that his shoulder just sucks and will never be good again and will likely tear again. And again. So, he thinks that Pennington will either be better than he was before, or just cooked and done but almost certainly not at the same level as he was before the injury. Thought it was an interesting take on the situation I thought I would share.
I talked to my hair dresser who also works on my wife's gyno's sister's best friend Laurie. She said her uncle Buck had exact same "knee" surgury that Chad just had and that Buck can't get out of a chair and walk anymore but once he gets up he can run like the wind. Interesting. Mangini must have heard the same story. That's probably why he passed on Vince Young.
haha lol, wheres your smartass remark for that one, i found it to be an interesting view on pennys shoulder, even tho the doc is a jet fan so he prob just convinced himself, but still, why dont you get a life other than bashing people for posting information on an intenet forum. seriously
Bashing??? Seems like I was pointing out to the lad that Vince Young was already drafted, so there is no way that Mangini "passed" up on him.
Thats actually true. When I screwed up my shoulder, my docs decided the best course of action was just to do extensive rehab, rather than surgery. They told me that since I had generally "weak" shoulders, other problems would arise after having the surgery.
I know it's not wise to step into a fight, but I think Chrebet86 was applauding your post and having a dig at Footballgod214's bashing of the original post. Now I'm stepping back out of the way so I don't get caught by any stray insults...
Actually...he corrected the person who was doing the mocking. You've had too many concussions my little friend.
This would make a lot of sense considering Chad was rushed back from rehab last year. We'll just have to wait and see, though.
Aw... Dont'cha Just feel the Love..... ..That warm fuzziness... ...Then You're Gay!!! j/k.... Who hasn't misread a few times.. Either way this is Chad's last Shot...No pun. I'm pullin for him
It is true ... its an injury most seen in baseball pitchers (if I remember right), and its documented (please don't ask me to find it) that in some people the surgery actually makes the arm stronger, and the pitchers wind up throwing harder than before the injury. Time will tell. I am pulling for Chad ... but its a long shot.
he's toast, noodle arm is done. if he get"s his starting job back, he won't make it thru the season without another injury. arm, leg,or his head. just consider him penny brittle!!!!!!!!!!!
