    Bring him back.

He is a threat out the backfeild, great on ST's, and can plat slot receiver too. I definitely think Leon being out hurt Sanchez' development. Just think what the Jets offense can be with a rotation of Brad Smith, Leon, and Danny Woodcock....

Return Game is good? I think we are doing okay not that spectacular. We would be crazy to think Brad Smith has the same effectiveness as Leon Washington. Though brad smith has done a nice job other teams have to really prepare for leon when he is back there returning.. As far as run game we dont have a Screen back Jones or Greene can not run the screen better then Washington and thats just proven..

A three head back field is the solution

Leon is going to be resigned or tagged. This is a gereat problm to have, running back depth out the wazoo.

Leon would have taken a ton of pressure off of Sanchez in the passing game. The possibility of checking down to Leon and the play still going for a big gain is always there with Leon. Without Leon, Sanchez had to force a few more passes to make plays down the field which as we know as turned into more interceptions and incompletions.

Perhaps on some of those 3rd and longs where Sanchez threw a pick, he could have dumped it off short to Leon, Leon makes one guy miss and picks up a first down. He was definitley missed in the passing game and will be useful next year.

Leon's injury is much more severe than what Sproles went through. Leon suffered a compound fracture of both the tibia and fibula, akin to Theismann's well-documented career ending injury in the mid 80's.

Is it possible Leon will be ready to go in 2010? Maybe. IF he is in fact healthy enough to play, will he be the same guy he was before? Doubtful.

Leon is my favorite Jet, so this injury was particularly hard for me to stomach. I'm pulling for the guy as much as anyone, but my expectations are tempered. Having said all of that, we DO need him!

    Leon will be fine-

He's already way ahead of schedule, he looked great last night at halftime.

Have to bring him back... They're getting by okay now, but think about all of the big plays he's made and games he's won for this team in the past.

He adds another dimension to the offense and special teams and must be resigned.

Leon turned down $5 million before the injury, I think that is the very most he is worth, especially with such a BIG question mark surrounding the injury.

I would offer him it again and walk away if he turns it down. His knowlege of our offense and loyalty we own him only goes so far.

The last Leon we had at his position came back from his injury. In 1997 as a rookie Leon Johnson scored on a 66-yard punt return and a 101-yard kickoff return. He was never the same.

Leon, take the offer and be happy, I would like to see you in a Jets uniform again.

Speaking of screen passes, why haven't the Jets, in over 45 years, figured out how to execute one?

Based on Smith's success running this offense, do you think they will both run it, or will it revert to being Washington behind center? I personally feel the throwing element favors Smith, and he has shown he deserves this niche in the offense. Line Washington up as the motion back in this scheme and this may be the second best scheme in the NFL, behind Miami. I'd like to call ours better, but with Brown and Williams, Miami makes this look to damn easy. Leon, if he returns to 100%, may benefit from getting back to the special teams part of the game. It seems to be where he earns his money. Hester has gone back to returning kicks in Chicago, and that seems to have worked worked out pretty well. Where ever he lines up he is valuable to this team, but I don't believe the other guys that have stepped up in his abscense should be thrown to the side because he comes back.

agree. leon should have a role as a third down back, but smith seems better suited to the option. (btw, it drives me crazy that people call this the wildcat. there's no unbalanced line!)

I like the idea of Smith running the option with Leon as his pitch back, but I also like Leon taking direct snaps. The nice thing about this possibility is that with both Smith and Washignton capable of handling the ball, defenses will have a much harder time figuring out what's going on.

The Jets could come out in so many different packages with Sanchez, Smith and Washington all in the huddle that they could cause a lot of confusion and get a big gain by catching the defense off guard (or at least cause the defense to burn a timeout to get things straightened out.)
