http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4782365 Either Ocho's just running his mouth again, or this is bad news. If the Bengals have nothing to play for on sunday night, playing their starters for a significant amount of time would be one of the dumbest moves I've ever seen, especially with a quarterback made of glass and other superstars valuable to the team, i.e. Ochocinco. They just lost Maualuga to a broken ankle and they can ill-afford to lose another impact starter, so why play to win? I believe we can beat the Bengals at full-strength, but I can't say I'm excited about Marvin Lewis saying the Bengals are 'playing to win.'
They're a very good football team but im confident Rex will get his guys ready to come out fighting. I'll be shocked if this team isn't fired up for this game since they've been given another chance at controlling their own destiny.
Lewis says his team is playing to win. Ryan prepares a full game plan. Lewis sees Ryan's plan, rests starters, prepares for next week's game vs. the Jets.
Hopefully I am in first..................
Think about it this way: what if they played all their starters .... and lost straight up. Then what do you do if you're Marvin Lewis. Play the "we're at home next weekend" card or the "you can't beat us twice" card? By sitting your guys, you do two things: avoid injury (a relatively unlikely occurence) and avoid a hit to confidence (a more likely occurence).
If everything goes the steelers way – it doesn’t pay to let them in the tournament…steelers would smush the Bungles.
"Ochocinco said he has called coach Marvin Lewis "at least 20 times" to see how much the starters are playing, and insists he told him the Bengals are "playing to win." "I said, 'OK, you get me excited and try to pull me out of the game, I'm not coming out. I will force you to use every timeout just to get me off the field,' " Ochocinco said. "That's what I plan to do, I'm not coming off the field, period. If Revis is in there, I'm in the game. I'm not coming out." Ochocinco said he thought up a scoring celebration in which he'll put on a Bengals firefighter's helmet -- making like famed Jets fan Fireman Ed -- and sit on the goal post or one of his linemen's shoulders and get the fans to chant, "O-C-H-O, Ocho, Ocho, Ocho," instead of the familiar "J-E-T-S" cheer." This guy is fucking delusional. Talk about a team and coaching disruption, where does he get off talking this way? I hope Revis gets over the cold he's got and shuts this mother fucker down on Sunday... completely.
The choices he had were not limited to: A)Called coach Marvin Lewis "at least 20 times" to see how much the starters are playing, and insists he told him the Bengals are "playing to win." B)"yeah just talked to coach,he said we're mailing it in."
Steelers are an average team and won't be making the playoffs, they aren't smushing anyone this year and winning the Superbowl last year doesn't change that fact.
eh, first game back, probably a little rusty, not as significant a factor as if he had played all season. I judge a team on how they are playing this season, not in fear of how good they were previously, and this year the Steelers are average. they could easily lose to the Fins on Sunday, are we supposed to think they are some extremely dangerous opponent just because they won the Super Bowl last year even if they finish 8-8? of course not.
