It happens. They're rookies. Rex had been showing a lot of progress in recent weeks - far from the multiple 12 man on the field penalties we had early in the season, which I blamed solely on him (did you ever see him realize it himself and wave a guy off the field?). But when he tries to retreat into the "I didn't know we still had a chance" defense about his comments after the atrocious game last week, he's just reverting back to being a rookie. And I forgive him. I bet we never see THAT Rex again. (The players in the locker room? Nailed to the wall.) You know as well as I do that when he basically said "It's over, Johnny" he meant it in terms of hope - not some cockamamie playoff scenario where we can still back in. He seems to know a lot more than he doesn't in terms of X's and O's and appears to have a love affair with the players, so it can only go up form here. He's a rookie, but won't take as long as a QB to develop - he's got YEEEEEEEARS of experience. If Sanchez had another year of college on his resume at last year's draft, he'd be a Lion - probably closer to the playoffs than he is with one less year of experience as a Jet. And I know, what Rex said or didn't say, what he meant or didn't mean doesn't cost us games - interceptions, missed field goals, missed pick sixes and empty stadium seats do... But when people start going b-a-n-a-n-a-s over other people STILL defending Mark Sanchez, why is it okay to defend the rookie coach but not the rookie qb? Neither get out if this alive. Ryan will get better, and Sanchez really won't reach the next level - skills or no skills - until he does. When Ryan is a GREAT head coach, not a good coach with potential - then we will all go into the sunset together - happy! Irie! The sky is not falling down - we're growing closer towards it.
I think Rex Ryan has shown more progress then Sanchez from game 1 to game 14 in my opinion. There giving Sanchez color codes like a traffic light and the dude keeps firing on red. I am a big supporter of Sanchez but I have not been pleased with his progress as of late. Atleast Ryan is a defensive genius and after losing our most important piece(not best, Revis) in Jenkins we STILL lead the league in scoring defense, 3 n outs, and yards allowed. He is excelling in his expertise while progressing in other areas of coaching for example getting more out of the prancing pony Rhodes who has played better since his benching.
I think overall Rex has done a great job. We've been in position to win almost every game, he adjusts well at halftime, often before it, and the guys play hard for him.
rex can't make tackles on special teams or hold down snaps. rex also isn't the ahole out there throwing retarded pick after another.
Now it's the fans fault? Get a grip. This team does a fine job of losing games without relying on paying customers.
Grip this. I was only applying the blame I've read about on this board. At one point I heard the snowballs are to blame - not the guys throwing them but the actual snowballs themselves!
