only one game left for us in this god forsaken stadium, i am trying so hard to remember the good times there, but other then, 98, and 02, i cant. since we moved there in 84, it's been nothing but bad luck, and heartbreak losses. i'm not saying that just because we wont be playing in a stadium thats called 'GIANTS STADIUM' anymore means we will start winning, but i think from a fans, team, and coaches point of view, it can only help to get out of that stadium. maybe the culture will change. the players, the coaches, and front office people may never admit to it, but they have got to hate pulling into there home stadium named after another nfl team, i know i cant fucking stand it. and i truly believe w/rex and company we are heading in the right direction, so it's perfect timing for our new satdium.
Jefferson says it still gets called Giants stadium on the reg....we fucked up moving into another stadium with them. We should have moved to L.I. (rant day after loss)
most definatly rant day today. if the new stadium is called giants stadium, i will no longer be a jets fan.
Who is Jefferson? It will be a corporate name but the rights are still unsold, that tells you something. But it won't be Giants Stadium, just at first some people will call it that for a while out of habit. Like the Izod Center that used to be Continental, etc, people get up with the changes eventually.
I don't know who Jefferson is but that is just silly. There's no way we are moving into a new Giants stadium, we paid for half of the thing. I'm psyched for the new stadium. Once Rex brings in a few more of his guys and ditches B Schot, we should have a really good team next year. A new stadium can give us hope that we shake the curse of Giants stadium. Although I guess we've been cursed for longer than that but I'm trying to stay upbeat. We really should have a good team next year.
Not since he moved on up to the East Side--I was there!! But that was before Giants Stadium was even built.
I think them tearing down a perfectly good stadium to build a very expensive one right next to it is a scandal. The scandal deepens with them charging PSL's to season ticket holders. The only problem with Giants Stadium was the name, and that easily could have been solved by modifying the electronic signage.
No naming rights just yet, definitely not called Giants Stadium though. Maybe some dry cleaning business will put a bid in-
Thats right...50/50 ownership on this stadium. The pile of shit we play in now was a 80/20 split i think.
Tiger Woods Stadium I heard Woody is calling it this because both he and Tiger like to screw their fans.
I don't think even that. The Giants and the state built it in the 70s and opened in 1976, the Jets didn't move in until 1984 and only as a tennant. I believe the Giants are the ones who resisted selling the naming rights to a corporate sponsor just to keep the upper hand on the Jets--just in case anyone didn't recognize all the red and blue seats and walls, etc.
Good riddens. I'd love to say I am going to miss that building but in retrospect, bon voyage!!! I for sure want to make sure that building is reduced to a pile of rubble. You know, the Yankees ghosts seemed to move across the street to their new home. I hope our ghosts aren't as geographically compenent.
