By now, Jets own the league's top defense and top rushing attack. A solid formula for not just a playoff run, but a possible SB run, if at all. If Jets do miss the playoffs this season, Jets will have a lot to thank for Brian.
I'm only thinking about the Falcons now and I still think this team can pull it off and make the playoffs - I even have a deluded fantasy that the Pats can lose two of their last three games and we can take the division. It's Christmas, a time for wishes to come true... But looking back at some of the games this team has lost... just one would have put us in the driving seat. Just one.
If the Colts miss the playoffs it will be because of their pathetic showing next week against the NFL's #1 Defense, the Band of Lunatics.
Rookie QB. Rookie HC. Most of us thought we'd have the #1 Defense 2-3 years from now. We have surpassed our expectations from draft day folks.
It's a passing league and the Jets passing attack is average at best this year. That's actually being kind because we're 30th in yards per game. I think Sanchez is going to be pretty damn good for us, but he's a rookie and our passing attack shows it. Of the top 5 passing attacks in the league, only 1 is not presently in the playoffs if they started today. The one that isn't still has a shot at the wildcard. Of the top 5 rushing attacks only 1 team would be in the playoffs if they started today. As much as Rex wants to have a defensive team with a ground and pound offense you still have to have a more potent passing attack than the 30th ranked one the Jets currently have. We're only averaging 155 yards per game through the air. I'm not saying I want Schottenheimer to start getting pass happy - obviously that's not the best idea with a rookie QB. As Sanchez develops into an NFL QB this team will become much better.
The best part about not having a higher pass offense is that Sanchez is getting time to learn while the offense is still doing relatively better than it would have for any other rookie QB. Sanchez doesn't have to throw as much while TJ racks up some yards. Besides the NO and 2nd Pats game, I believe we have had the lead in 4th quarter in every single game, winning 7 and losing 4. Ground and pound offense will not win a game when you are behind in the 4th. That is when u need a good passing offense and I believe this yr will only make the next yr easier. I see a green future.
Dude why do you have to start off this very important Sunday with negative shit like this. Let's try and get a win today
and this isnt in cesspool? not that i disagree with you at all but does this really warrant a thread?
The person whose talking about the Colts missing the playoffs after they have clinched the first seed should just be banned for stupidity.
