He comes back as the enemy this week, the first time we've played against him. Of course he was ill and limited in practice, so who knows? But when he was here we had tremendous hopes for him. He got to the QB as effectively as anyone since Mark Gastineau and could change games when he was on. He sat out some of the biggest games of his time here for various aliments, and only played a full 16-game season when he was going for a new contract in 2005.

Anyway, I have mixed feelings. Always liked the guy but was disappointed he didn't give it a go a couple times, at least one of them, and kind of forced his way out. Your thoughts on Abe as he comes back this week?

Brick is good with speed-rushers. His issue is with the bull-rusher types ala R. Seymour; I expect Brick to handle him.

I loved Abraham when he was here, he's a fucking beast but I hope he does jackshit against us.

He still is a beast when he's healthy. I wouldn't mind if he still had a boo boo on Sunday.

The guy dominated Jake Long this season primarily using a bull rush. D'Brick has gotten better against that, but it's still his weakness as a pass protector. It's kind of a scary matchup for us.

I'll remember Abraham fondly only because the return on his trade was the stud in the middle of our o-line. Otherwise nobody shrank in the bigger spot then J Abe.

Typical Jets luck w/ Abe and Chad. We had a franchise QB and elite pass rusher and both couldn't stay healthy.

I will cheer if/when Abe is introduced but obviously I hope we destroy his team.

    Abe is a frickin animal

Like junc said, its too bad he had injuries because he was a stud when healthy. We haven't had a pass-rusher even come close to Abe since he left. He really was an elite talent. That being said, I love Mangold.

I still think we got fleeced in that trade, by the way. It worked out because we used the pick to get Mangold with a low first-rounder, but I still think we got the short end. How is a guy worth a top 15 pick or whatever he was in 2000, then prove he's the real deal and only get you back a low first-rounder five years later when he's in his prime? I mean Keyshawn got us two #1s and I think most people will agree it's easier to find a dominant posession WR than a dominant DE like Abraham.

We pretty much showed our hands long before that trade. We weren't going to get market value for him because of it.

he's an elite talent but he didn't have durability AND he wanted a big contract. I think getting a 1st rd pick was a great job and obviously we used that pick wisely.

I think using the Keyshawn trade to support your argument is a bad move. Trading good possession receiver for 2 #1's is a textbook example of a team getting fleeced.

Is it my imagination or did we seem to have a knack for doing that? Seems like every time we had a shot at getting something (anything) in trade, we squandered it somehow:

    Coles
    Kendall
    Baker
    Jordan
    Pennington
    Even Favre outfoxed us

Of course, I guess there's the other side of the ledger, the recent acquisitions:

    Thomas Jones
    Braylon Edwards
    Kris Jenkins
    Lito Shepard
    Bart Scott

We got 2 1st rd picks for Coles, that was a fleecing.

What could we have gotten for baker?

We had no leverage w/ Chad and we had no time to deal him after we traded for favre.

IMO abraham could have been a top notch defensive guy, even with his injury history, if he was fortunate enough to stay in a 3-4 style defense for his career.....

the philosophy and coaching changes did not benefot him but you have to deal with what you are dealt.

the jets have not replaced him and are in sore need of an abraham clone to put this D over the top.

Jets fans hated on Abraham because it seems like we always have to have a villain. Fine.

But he was the best pass rusher that the team has had in the past 20 years, and when he's healthy he's still a beast. I tip my cap to him and hope that Ferguson does his job.

You're right about Coles and Penny, but I guess my point is, our recent activities, in general, would indicate that maybe we've turned the fleecing "corner," if you will. Add Calvin Pace to the recent list, BTW.

Like Abraham, for example, it just seems like we used to get taken advantage of more in our trades than nowadays. Tannenbaum is doing a very good job of getting the most out of deals we'ere making lately as opposed to what was happening several years back.

We only got one first round pick for Coles. We used that and our own 1st round pick to trade with Chicago to get Dewayne Robertson

Abe isn't even an after thought among Jets for me... and I loved this guy when we got him and had such hopes for him. Unfortunately he's all vagina. Good riddance. It'd be fitting to see him limping off the field at some point and leaving his team when they need him most come Sunday. That was always his MO for us.

Put part of the blame on Herm Edwards for that. Abe was hand-held and babied just like Ty Law. Herm had his pet panty-waists and never squandered an opportunity to let them slack off whenever they felt like it.
