Backing down? Johnson says Dolphins' Ginn was no-show for race DAVIE, Fla. -- NFL rushing leader Chris Johnson says speedy Miami Dolphins wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr. became a no-show when they arranged a foot race during a pool party on Miami Beach. "We were going to race down Ocean Drive," Johnson said Wednesday. "I walked down to the street, and he never showed up." The subject arose during a conference call with South Florida media. Johnson and his Tennessee Titans play the Dolphins on Sunday. Johnson said the race was arranged at a party last offseason attended by Ginn, Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter and other NFL players. "He and Joey Porter were talking about how he could beat me," Johnson said. "When it came down to it, he was a no-show." Johnson has rushed for 1,626 yards this season and could become the sixth player to reach the 2,000-yard milestone. He had a time of 4.24 seconds in the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine last year and considers himself the league's fastest player. Faster than Ginn? "That's not even a legitimate question," Johnson said. Faster than Olympic champion Usain Bolt? "That's a better question," Johnson said. "I think I would beat him like in the 50." Johnson said he has never taken part in the sort of challenge race arranged with Ginn. "They say they want to," he said, "but they end up backing out." - So is he actually the fastest player in the league? In the entire league including backups and practice squads is there nobody faster?
Desean Jackson might be just as fast with the ball in his hands, but Johnson is probably the best flat out sprinter. Jamaal Charles ran a 10 second 100m I think too.
Like in the 10s or as in 10.09 and lower? That's frickin' fast. The fastest I have ever seen in person was at the grade 11 provincial meet a guy ran like 10.89 and the second place guy was like 11.12. I also saw a 2.06m high jump that day and competed against a triple jumper who jumped 15.05m.
Love Chris Johnson as a player but... as a person... did you ever hear this guy talk? He looks one joint away from being closed in a mental hospital :S!
^ It makes you wonder how these guys get through university. They must have to hand in something at some point, and their marks have to stay above a certain GPA, right? Imagine how dumb the guys who get suspended from varsity sports must be if they can't stay above that threshold and CJ can!
I think that they should do these races with their pads on. Suit em up and we'll see who the fastest football player really is.
That's why their graduation rates are so low. The Universities are able to justify them being there for 3-4 years, but are unable to provide them with a degree. Also, their tutors are outstanding.
The statement isn't all that shocking about CJ v. Usain. The one knock on Usain, and its a stretch to call it a knock, is that he has below average reaction time for a sprinter off the blocks. If he was in the upper tier of reaction times, he'd be smashing his own records repeatedly. It usually takes him a little bit to recover from a slow start and by about the 50m mark is when he really start blowing people out of the water (his closing speed numbers are unfathomable) so I wouldn't be shocked at all to think that CJ might take him in a 50...
"Justin Gatlin, who ran 9.85 s for a gold medal at the 2004 Olympic 100 metres, has a verified 40-yard dash best of 4.42 s" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/40-yard_dash Who knows, maybe he can win.
Wow. Do you know him? Visit to the south...you'd probably think of every single black male the same way.
Joey Porter!!?!??!?!?!?! Anyway, this reminds me of what Chad Johnson/Ochocinco said about Michael Phelps.
Last part of the initial thread: "- So is he actually the fastest player in the league? In the entire league including backups and practice squads is there nobody faster?" Congrats, you now suck at life.
Joey Porter would say smack to anyone. If he was on Iron Chef he would spend the whole show 2.5 inches away from Bobby Flay's face, swearing and spitting.
You quoted nothing for the reference, all I have to go by is the title and this: There were only two races mentioned in the OP, one of which includes Usain Bolt. Way to suck at declaring your subject.
Dude, the whole first post is about a Chris Johnson vs Ted Ginn race that should have been, then a slight mention at the end for Usain Bolt. THEN he made a statement asking if CJ really was the fastest player in the league. Not sure how you struggled so mightily to make a connection. You just did like 90% of the board and went for the dick response before you even thought about what the post was referring to.
