He can play OLB, DE, and ILB(poorly). He's got the size and the athleticism, but I'd only do it for a depth move.
He'd be a great depth pickup He's pretty versatile and would essentially replace Gholston on the roster... and be productive unlike that waste of space.
Only if he's really on the cheap side, because if Belichick can't get production out of a player, I am inclined to believe it has more to do with the player and not the system, history notwithstanding. If he was under most other coaches in the league I might be more interested in him, but that he's been with the Pats.
This would be a good idea in my opinion. I was thinking the same thing when I heard they even considered cutting him.
This isn't every player though, he has history with Ryan this system. He has history with Scott and will want to get back at that bitch Belly. It's not like it's a random thread on some DL. He certainly played well with Ryan, maybe he isn't being utilized properly in NE and if you really look at the numbers he isn't that far off for his career numbers. Everybody who knows nothing about football thought because NE broke the bank for somebody he was going to have 26 sacks and 200 tackles a season. Do some reserach and then make your smartass comments.
if we want to look at possibilities i hear that Ghoslton kid from the jets won't be resigned. he's young, was a top pick, and leads the league in ass slivers. thoughts?
I wouldn't oppose getting Seymour. But Thomas just makes sense....like I mentioned in the OP...he's got the connection to Rex, he knows the scheme, fills a need, has a chip on his shoulder and is extremely versatile in the defense Rex likes to run.
Peppers and Merriman are FA next season. Being that it's an uncapped year, the jets should cut gholston. They can take the cap hit it there's no cap. Bryan Thomas should be on that cut list too. Get rid of the dead weight when you can. Peppers and merriman on the outside with Scott and Harris playing inside give us the best linebacking group any of us have and prolly will ever see.
I would not be opposed to this. Thomas may not be what he once was but he still is an outstanding athlete who can get after the quarterback. He also has had documented success in Rex's D. He may not be what Pace and BT are, but Rex is all about unique athletes who bring versatile strengths. It's thinking about defense as an offense...and having a variety of weapons to hit the opposition with. Adalius is indeed a unique talent who can do some things pace and BT can't.That makes him a weapon. Bring him in on the cheap for 3-4 years. Fit him into the defensive game plan as well as special teams and give him 25-30 snaps. The deducted role may prolong his career and give him some rejuvenation, and also give the rest of the Lb's a few more breathers during games.
YOU STOP, this is a great post and is pertinent as it involves NE and our coach is the ex position coach of the player. This is not lets pick up jamarcus russell etc....
Please destroy the shift button on your computer. Thank you. This is actually a good idea. Thomas has been in Rex's system, he's versatile enough to play three positions in it, and he's likely going to be cheap. Providing that the money is right, Adalius Thomas would be a great depth signing.
I am so glad we didn't overpay for him a few years ago like everyone wanted to. I don't want the guy, if he came dirt cheap(by NFL vet standards) I'd take a look but he had one good season in Baltimore and has been a complete bust for NE.
