Is this guy gunna be in the mix at lb this season or is he juss gunna play special teams again? hes been a project for the last 2 years and im just wondering if hes progressed enough to get a shot at getting into the OLB rotation or possibly starting. His sideline to sideline speed would be helpful to us on defense.
I see him moving to safety he's fast enough and could be used the same way Don Davis was in New England.
Nah, I expect him to play special teams. Jason Glenn was always a really good Special teamer, but never cracked the lineup. Darrell hasn't even performed well on ST's yet.
he was our second leading ST tackler in 04 with 25 tackles and was injured the whole season last year
I don't remember him having that many tackles, but my point really is I think he is a special teamer. Not a starter.
u might be right. but with his physical abilities itd be a waste if he couldnt develop into something more.
http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/493007 According to NFL.com he only had 12 tackles in 2004, not 25.
12 tackles on defense 25 tackles including special teams. http://www.newyorkjets.com/team/roster/show/878?select=stats
That not what it means. It is saying he had 25 tackles on special teams and 1 on defense. Either way I would go by NFL.com
McClover's definitely got what it takes to be a good contributer on defense for us. He's still raw right now, so I'm not going to say he'll have a breakout season or anything, but he's a real hard worker and plays all out. Mangini is going to love the kid, and coach Sutton already is very familiar with what he can do. I would like to see what they think of him potentially as a safety, but we don't know what type of training they had him doing while he recovered from injury. There's a good chance he's well above 230 by now, but there's an equal chance he's dropped back below 220. Need to wait till minicamp to see what condition he's in.
Doesn't OLB in the 3-4 have to be big? If so, like many of you have said, he could be an interesting prospect at SS.
Settle down Beavis, and watch some games while your at it. McGlover was an ACE on special teams, always in on the tackle, and actually led the team in one of the more recent seasons. He was a true asset to our ST squad and there was a marked dropoff when he went on IR
yea, took the words right out of my mouth....i rememebr when he went down last year many people were concerned because he was great at st.......as for him at olb...he's too small to ever be an every down lb, but he may have a role as a pass rusher in obvious passing situations.....this guy is very quick and fast, and was used as a gunner for us, something a speedy cb, safety, or wr usually does
Well I usually do watch the game in section 133, but whatever you say Butthead. Sorry if I didn't remember he earned special teams player of the week. Next time I will keep a diary of these notes so I can report them back to you.
Hah figured I would get your attention. In all seriousness, he rocked on ST, game in and game out, as for OLB I'd be a little concerned due to his size. I believe that before he went down we were actually trying him out in the 4-3LB role, and he was doing pretty well for himself, though I can't seem to remember if this was only in a preseason game
I hope he plays well on special teams this season too. As for playing LB I agree. I don't think there is a chance he plays a down unless we are depleted with injuries.
