I think the worst part of this whole Kerry Rhodes thing is that he genuinely believes that he is having a great season and is playing well.
he definitely believes his own hype... but wait there is no hype around him... interesting... so maybe he CREATES his own hype and then believes it and meanwhile we all stand around confused at how much a douche he has become.
I'm going to disagree not because I want to be argumentative, but I think he knows he is not playing well and he has to keep up the appearance that he is, I have come to believe that he was playing for a contract so he could fund his other business ventures, and he has something to fall back on now, which I think is a joke but that's JMHO.
after the Lynch TD someone,, Rex any other coach should have gotten in his face and he should have SAT! While watching tape and in film sessions this week he should have been singled out --can you imagine what Parcells would have said to this guy when he came to the sidelines after that piss poor effort of a tackle? I used to love Rhodes now he deserves to sit his effort and attitude speak loud enough for all to hear--very sad
appalling. what an asshat! if he thinks he earned his starting job back they need to duct tape him to a chair in front of a video loop of him dancing past Marshawn Lynch.
I don't really get the hatred for Rhodes. He was over-rated based on his first couple of seasons and he hasn't lived up to that since. He's still a decent safety and better than a lot of guys the Jets have had in the defensive backfield over the last 8 years or so. I'd really rather have Eric Smith stay at strong safety at this point, but that's mainly because Eric Smith is rounding into a pretty good safety in his own right and I think he has a higher upside than Rhodes does right now.
We can see by the stupidity that comes outta Rhodes mouth that this guy just doesn't get it. Instead of staying quite and humble this moron thinks because Jake Delhomme decided to play Santa that he should now get his starting spot back. Well i disagree. As bad as his play his been his attitude is worse. I really want this guy sent packing.
Not really defending Rhodes here, but I think this story paints Rex in a much worse light than him. He's telling reporters that he can't make his players do what he wants them to?
Actually, I think that Rex believes in personal responsibility and accountability. As a head coach he shouldn't have to wet nurse a veteran player to get him to play up to his potential. That player should not only know what it takes to perform at a high level, but he should be willing to do such things. Now during this off season, Rex has to decide who on the team are "His" kind of players and who isn't. The ones that aren't should be shown the door. That should make this a very interesting off season for if he doesn't do that, then we don't have a real head coach but simply a glorified defensive coordinator.
What really pissed be off about Rhodes was after the Fins game when he threw Revis under the bus on Twitter, saying Ginn wasn't his responsibility. Really? The guy runs a fly pattern for a TD and our safety isn't responsible? GFY Kerry.
our starting saftey hasn't been meeting with our db coach all season? get a second round pick for this clown and be done with it.
The Jets definitely need to trade him somewhere if they decide to move on. Cutting him and having him wind up in New England with Belichik motivating him would blow chunks.
if he gets cut he will be in new england in the blink of an eye. they need to trade him if they want to cut ties with him letting the pats rebuild their defense with a pissed off kerry rhodes will be a mistake.
I've watched that play 20 times. Ginn was not rhodes's responsibility on that one. KR was busy covering camarillo. He's still a douche for calling out a teammate though. I will be happy to see him out the door for his lackluster play; me first attitude, and ridiculously overpriced contract.
I am confused. Thurman is the DB coach of the Jets. Rhodes is a Jets DB. Don't they see each other every week?
Actually, you think that because its what you want to believe, not because of what objective evidence you have before you. If Rex felt personally responsible and accountable for the well-being of the team he's coaching, and wanted one of his players to do something that would enhance it, the personally responsible thing for him to do is insist his player do it. Not gripe to the media about him not doing it. Look, I understand the popular perception is that Rhodes is a dog and Rex is untouchable. Both are inaccurate. Sure, Rhodes needs to pick it up. Rex's shortcomings are much more the cause of the Jets failures at this point.
yes, but Rhodes never sought out 1 on 1 coaching from Thurman. They probably never got together to truly discuss the art of being a defensive back. Some guys just don't take well to coaching. Rhodes is one of them. She's an asshole.
