New York Jets 12/02/2009 05:08 PM ET RL: The Jets today signed TE Matthew Mulligan from their practice squad to the active roster. Mulligan will wear uniform No. 82. __________________________________________________________ Could this be a slap in Hartsock's face?
Hartsock was on thin ice already, looks like he'll be picked up by the browns off the waiver wire soon enough
Carl Spackler: A looper, you know, a caddy, a looper, a jock. So, I tell them I'm a pro jock, and who do you think they give me? The Dalai Lama, himself. Twelfth son of the Lama. The flowing robes, the grace, bald... striking. So, I'm on the first tee with him. I give him the driver. He hauls off and whacks one - big hitter, the Lama - long, into a ten-thousand foot crevasse, right at the base of this glacier. Do you know what the Lama says? Gunga galunga... gunga, gunga-lagunga. So we finish the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.
Robert Turner (#75) is hurt and won't be playing. Without him, we only have Keller, Hartsock, and ... nobody. Wayne Hunter (#78) gets some time at tight end in goalline situations, but if Mulligan is playing well on the practice squad, and we need a tight end, we might as well call him up. Otherwise, why have him on the PS in the first place?
I agree 100% plus if we initially brought him in on the 53 man roster from TEN it must mean the CS has seen something in him.
Speaking about tight ends, where in the world is Doug Jolley? Did he retire? Or was he just that bad.
In 06 he was on Tampa and was released I think. He was 27 at the time so I'd imagine he was released.
I'd say this is mostly along the lines Mack posted, but beyond that, there was a roster spot open from Miller's release, so Mulligan was probably just next on the depth chart.
