Seriously. Same number of letters in their first and last names, same number of syllables. Both heavy set white guys with white hair. On a more relevant note, listen to how Millen talks. Their voices have a similar cadence and timbre. Also, I find the way they analyze plays is very similar. Madden was able to talk about the game at a level a step beyond what the non-plays commentators do, but that most casual fans would still find interesting. Millen does the same in my opinion. You gets guys like Tim Ryan and Gus Johnson who are speaking at such a high level that fewer fans can figure it out. Millen takes it down a notch in terms of technicality and terminology. I think he's really good. I'm enjoying the Thursday night games.
Of course professionally John Madden won a super bowl and Matt Millen was the architect of footballs version of the Hindenburg. Be that as it may, Millen did have one hell of a football career as a player. So while with others his credibility is shot to hell because of the Lions people need to keep in mind how great of a player Matt Millen was.
the mere fact that Millen is employed within any capacity of professional football....disgusts me. He's the Ryan Leaf of NFL GMs. Why the fuck would I want to listen to this guy's opinion....when he singlehandedly "crashed and burned" an NFL franchise.
This isn't really news, though. Before he was hired by the Lions, Millen was being groomed at Madden's replacement.
I remember him punching out that Sullivan asshole owner of the Pats back in the 1985 playoffs, ever since then he's been ok in my book. I could give a rat's ass about the Lions.
The guy knows footbal!! Not front office football, but football. Maybe some time on the sidelines would help.
Do you think, if Millen got his own football video game, anyone would be ranked over 75? God knows, and so does everyone else, that not many of his picks would rank higher.
you can see ToddisGod salivating as he wrote this post. after being ridiculed for asinine post after asinine post, now was finally his chance to turn the tide and be the one to point out how stupid someone else's post was, only he was the idiot again. well done.
If Millen was rating the players the Browns and Lions would have all the highest rated players while the Colts and Saints would be the worst teams in the game.
