I am at the game and watching Revis score----now we lign up for the P.A.T. and we only have 10 guy on the field. Feely is very animated and motioning towards the Jets bench and I watch Clemens run allthe way across the Jets sideline, get his helmet on and run all the way back across the bench and out to the field. He got set with about 10 seconds left on the play clock,,,,,anyone else notice this keystone cop routine?
Yeah, I was screaming at it at the game. Why wasn't Kellen on the field? I figured he must have forgotten his helmet because it makes no sense.
Either there was some miscommunication or he pulled a Thurman Thomas. I didn't see what happened on tv, but a delay of game on the XP is no biggie.
my guess: Clemens' doesn't wear/have his helmet with him when the team is on defense, so it took him longer to get ready
The only thing I could think of is along the lines of what dwalsh said. This was our first defensive touchdown in 11 weeks or whatever. He was probably just not expecting it at this point.
Clemens probably just was not ready - maybe he had to look for his helmet. Back in the day, I remember going to a Jets game with my dad. The Jets were horrible in those days (early to mid-70s). After finally scoring a td (on offense), the XP team came out on the field - without the holder and kicker. The team actually lined up to snap the ball and then someone called a TO. Bizarre.
he RAN TO GET HIS HELMET , yes,,,,,,,,,,,,,but I am not sure what he was thinking, I mean I watched the whole thing unfold and it was not like he was looking for it at first he was just tossing the ball and hanging out to the rite of our bench. When Feely went nutz thats when he realized he had to be out there and began his Thurman Thomas routine---------a time out wasted there because a guy was clueless would have sucked.
brain fart. it has happened to all of us before and it didn't have any effect on the game. nothing to be overly concerned about here.
