Eric Smith was also being used as a hybrid LB/S in situational plays in week 2. A great move by the defensive staff to utilize ES's strengths. I'm a little concerned about Smith's coverage skills as the full time starter.....I hope he plays well.....but we've seen this song n' dance before.
if they put Leonhard in after having surgery on monday...that speaks volumes of what the CS thinks of the depth at Safety.
Or about how highly they think of Leonhard and his importance to the defense. Rex has been saying all week how tough Leonhard is and that it would not surprise him if he played Sunday.
I wasn't taking a dig at Leonhard....but usually when a player has surgery, they give them some time off to rest. If our Safety depth was competent enough to handle the NWE air attack...I bet Leonhard sits....no question about it.
ManishMehta1@AronGalonsky Looks like Cothcery for punt returns. Leonhard can't field them with a cast. about 2 hours ago from web in reply to AronGalonsky #NYJets safety Jim Leonhard (thumb in caste) is practicing 2day and appears ready to play Sun. v. #Patriots #nfl #jets
if he can be effective...that's excellent news. I'd love to see JL obliterate Brady on a Safety blitz this Sunday.
i am more worried that Kerry Rhodes still plays for us. he was awful as usual last Sunday against Jax
