We definitley need to look at upgrading the D-Line in this draft. The safety posistion is not a weakness. Rhodes might be proving that he isnt great but he isnt a liability out there either. We have bigger needs then replacing Rhodes right now.

He essentially threw Revis under the bus on blown coverage, said that it wasn't his responsibility to get the receiver- and Revis was the only other guy who was close.

    He's a dick.

I thought the Jets were going to have a very good secondary this year. Revis is all pro, Leonhard mostly plays well. Eric Smith is a good backup.

But after Revis, the other cb's are pretty mediocre. It's not all Rhodes, but yes, Rhodes is disappointing.

Jets right now need help on both lines, that's true. But I would not be opposed to picking up help in the secondary, either.

Strickland is a decent nickel. IMO, they need to go NT in the first round and DE in the second. Then go OL for the rest of the draft.

Call it controversial but I think Kerry was better in the past because Mangina was on his shit all the time. I think Rex needs to crack the whip on the team and stop making excuses. He needs to stop trying to be one of the boys and be a coach. The discipline starts with him, needs to shut his mouth and set an example for his team to be focused. This team is way too talented to let this season go like this, but they are.

Agreed, unless Eric Berry somehow falls into our laps, we have to go DL and OL in the draft. I prefer your scenario. any other needs will have to be addressed in FA. our DL is the only old piece to our team and thats why we have to add in elite talent on the DL come draft time.

getting rid of Gholston will free up some change to help us make some improvements as well.

We can trade Rhodes to the Browns for their 1rd pick :p

Please let Mangini still be in charge... Rhodes and Ellis to the Browns for their 1st rd pick and we get Berry... hahaha that would be so cool!

    Sigh.

Yes, there is a great need for help on both lines. I just think the secondary is still in need of help, too. Maybe Strickland can play starting cb. I'd like to see how that works. Clearly Lito is gone this off season, and Lowery is just not up to the task.

Lowery was caught playing soft more than a few times yesterday, plus his closing speed on that tackle into the end zone left a bad taste in my mouth.

I'd kill for Eric Berry.....but our lines are in dire straights from a depth perspective.

But man....that would be a tough decision....whether or not to select Berry if he fell to us.

The way we're playing though...we may end up picking in the top 10.

No need to get your panties in a bunch. I agreed with your assessment of the secondary, but I think Strickland is a good nickle. We could definitely use some help opposite Revis, but I wouldn't want to see us address it high in the draft considering the needs along the lines. Lowery isn't terrible though, he is good for a big play here and there, he just can't do it consistently.

our secondary is one of our strengths if you think ellis needs replacement less then rhodes your crazy. Rhodes is still young and has all the tools to be a great safety he just needs some motivation. Id want to replace age before underachiever because an underacheiver atleast has the chance to be great.

Honestly, I'm at this point solidly in the Mike DeVito fan club. He has been very good for us of late and is signed through a ferw years. This lowers me desire for a 3-4 Lineman some. Mainly because we need O-line almost as badly and if we keep dorrping games and moving up in the draft, we have to get a difference maker at any poisiton, not just go based off of a strict need guildline.

Most people screwming for D-line want one because "we need a pass rushing DE" ..... Not exactly what this defense is based around at all. I know you know that, but I'm jsut throwing it out there.

Berry is a all world talent I would love to have. Cody is a beast. With him at Nose and Jenks at End or tackle, the run game jsut stopped for the other team. It would be fun to watch.

I just read the herm's link.

Kerry said that the Lewis completion wasn't on him, he was supposed to have deep help.

    Leonhard took the blame.

So I take it all back. Kerry Rhodes is just a great, great player. Great teammate, too. I should have known that the only reason he's looked so bad this year is because he's playing next to scrubs like Jim Leonhard and Darrelle Revis.

Same thing happened last year with Leonhard, right? Didn't Ed Reed look like shit last year?

    Poor Kerry...

Fully agree...Leonard has outplayed Rhodes this year. Rhodes has been ridiculously average. As much as I'd like to see them replace him, there are bigger needs.
