It seems some posters (like Br4dw4y5ux for instance) are going to lose sleep tonight....because they don't agree with the first playcall of the game...the playaction bomb to Cotchery that was intercepted. I disagree with that....I thought it was a great playcall by Schotty....and if Sanchez throws it a tad harder...Cotch is on his way to the endzone....as he only had single coverage from Mathis. The fact that Mathis got away with a blatant pass interference call didn't help matters either. Anyway.....what say you TGG?......was it the right call? Poll forthcoming.
I didnt agree with the call. Its only one play but I wanted to come out and establish the run and obviously that play didnt allow us to do that.
It was pretty funny actually. My dad asked my right before the play what my gameplan would be, and I said run it, and then run it, and after you run it, run it some more. He says he disagrees and that he would do a play action and go deep. Now basically both calls would be right, as the play failed because of execution. But a lot of people would say its a bad call because it gives an unnecessary chance for the kid to make a mistake early in the game, which is what ultimately happened.

That's all I will say on this matter.
I didn't mind the playcall, the throw was just garbage. There may or may not have been PI on the play (I don't even care anymore at this point).
Good call. Bad result. Yes, it was a tough way to start. If it is knocked away or just incomplete, it is 2nd and 10. There were 59+ minutes left in the game.
cotchery had his man beat cleanly and all sanchez had to do was make a good throw. the call was fine the execution was terrible. anyone who thinks sanchez needs to be babied along is out of their mind. since the buffalo disaster he has kept his head on straight. he is going to make bad plays and decisions this is what we signed up for with a rookie qb this year.
I dont mind the call it was just a bad throw plain and simple. Im starting to get tired of Sanchez "bouncing back" too......maybe if he didnt play so bad he wouldnt have to try n bounce back....
durrrrrrrrr you think?? but that's what rookie QBs do sometimes, they play badly. they make mistakes. hopefully they learn from these mistakes instead of imploding from them.
Happy Birthday! Hope that cake...oh wait diabetes. Happy Birthday! How about those Jets...oh wait they lost. Happy Birthday!
Watching the play, I noticed D'Brick nearly had his head ripped off by a Jag LB'er. Blatant face mask tug..thought there'd be a flag for sure.
You seem to be focusing on the play-action, which to me is besides the point. I would have had no problem with a play-action pass from the pocket. I wouldn't have even minded a play-action rollout to the right side, although I also wouldn't have loved it. A play-action rollout to the left side, which forces Sanchez to completely square his shoulders (giving the cornerback time to close on the receiver) before throwing a pass more than 50 yards in the air was IMO a completely ridiculous way to start the game. The pass was poorly executed by Sanchez, but he should have never been put in the position of having to try. Oh, and happy birthday.
I think the idea was right. But Schotty keeps forgetting that Sanchez is a rookie so at the same time I didn't agree with the call.
Not a huge fan of the call, but I'm not nearly as against it as anyone else. Just like every other play, if you execute it, that's what matters. And once again, we can't execute.
