The Jets should let him play some football with us in the parking lot before the game. At least, we (the fans) might be able to enjoy him that way.
Um, what game were you watching? Luckily, this particular play made the highlight tape so we can get your nonsensical post cleared up. The play in question occurs between 0:15 and 0:25 in the video below. Now, I'm not going to get on here and defend Gholston's overall play like I have done in the past. Quite frankly, he has done nothing but let me down. But, as the video clearly shows, saying that "he didn't even attempt to push the pile out of bounds, he just fell at everyone's feet" is utter nonsense. In fact, he was probably (or should have been) credited with the tackle on that play. Ragging on Gholston for a poor overall performance is one thing. But exaggerating to the point where you could be misleading to someone that may have missed that particular play is wrong
gholston ate up two blockers on the sack we got on the third down of the final drive in the 4th quarter, and he also ate up two blockers on a sack by Ellis which i believe occured in the 3rd quarter. Other than that, I didn't see anything to give a clear rate of his overall performance.
I want to preface this post by first saying if next year goes uncapped, we need to cut the guy. That being said, Pace and Thomas are playing great, so Gholston isn't going to see the field. Period. That's just common sense and bitching because he's "not good enough to see the field" is a ridiculous argument. He's in when BT or Pace need a breather and sometimes on special teams, but in the little time he's out there, I'd say it's better he went unnoticed than fucking up and bringing attention to himself. Honestly, if he gets cut next year, I'd really like to see him brought back with a new contract. He stepped in nicely through week 4, so at worst he'd be great for depth.
Thats exactly what i say and you wonder if the didnt double team gholston if the sacks would have been made
Still waiting for AbdulSalami to come back with his analysis. It's much easier for him to call the rest of us "losers" for bashing Vernon...
Hey, Gholston was a Mangini pick... not ours... if he really wants him come and get him! I really liked Trusnik, out of the OLB I would have rather given away B. Thomas than him.
Seriously, Gholston lacks any kind of motor. This is why he will never develop into anything above near very average. If we can trade him eventually we would be fortunate to get a fourth round pick for him at best.
I just read where they made Murrell inactive and made Gholston active against Miami. By doing that and putting Woodhead on ST's actually was the iceberg that sank the ship on Sunday. Not sure what the thinking was but not having Murrell on the field hurt this team alot more than perhaps letting Vern stay home. I've also read that this happens quite often too. I think we all know why the Ghost is getting the nod here. Big assed contract is quite the motivator isn't it when it comes to who plays and who stays home..
That's the same guy who called me an "idiot" for telling him that the "fake" punt Westerman ran wasn't a called fake, but Westerman made the decision to run himself. Clearly, this guy is watching a different type of football than everybody else
