Saints Loss - Hold Drew Brees and that offense to 10 points. Sanchez implodes and gives New Orleans 14 points off turnovers. Dolphins Loss Part 1 - Defense gets trounced for over 400 yards of offense. Blow lead after lead when the offense kept putting you in a position to win the game. Bills Loss - 6 Interceptions. Blow a 10 point lead. Sanchez again implodes as he gift wraps a game for Buffalo Dolphins Loss Part 2 - lol...Now the special teams didn't want to get forgotten in helping another team win. Two 100+ yard KO returns. A fumble by Greene for six. Hold the WildCat to nothing and 104 total yards of offense for Miami. I know we'll get a bunch of SOJs, rightfully so...But it's just a matter of how will the Jets lose their next game? 2 have came from Sanchez, 1 from the defense, 1 from special teams. You can even say Rex and Schotty lose the Buffalo game. They can just find ways to lose close games...Today...Another example.
I'm trying to decide whether I would rather see them get blown out or lose games they should be winning.
If you thought Mark Sanchez was going to play a perfect season, then that's just stupid. Anyone that knows football can tell you that rookie quarterbacks make costly, game-changing mistakes. I agree that it's frustrating...especially when the games are winnable, but this isn't a season where the Jets were going to make a playoff run. The team just isn't that good and people's expectations were incredibly too high.
this is just a loser organization and we should just accept it i suppose... we are the la clippers of the nfl
So many teams are worse than the Jets right now, that these comments sound crazy and it seems people don't realize how bad it could be. The losses have been tough, but this team is close.
Look, I'm GLAD I didn't sip the 3-0 Kool-Aid. But when you go 3-0, the expectations get raised, doesn't matter who you are. I said the Jets would go 6-10, and they can probably squeeze out 7 or 8 wins. The team is pretty good to me. A Top 10 defense, #1 rushing attack in the NFL. They just FIND ways to lose games...Again, nothing new.
personally, i think they are entertaining. but thats just me. i wish we could play you guys 4 more times this season.
the first one....because the second one just brings the SOJ feelings to a boil, and nothing sucks more than that...
When you replace Eric Mangini, bring in more quality free agents, don't lose any players of note, have a big time offensive line, etc., you should at least have the same record as the prior season. Prior to the season, I was going to be disgusted with anything less than a 9-7 mark. My expectations are now scaled back due to the injuries of Kris Jenkins and Leon Washington. 8-8 would be okay now, I suppose. edit: Okay, Favre was a player of note, but he was apart from the team and was a detriment in December last year.
If a team achieves those types of rankings, it would be difficult to have a losing record after 16 games. That said, if any team could find a way it is the Jets.
Rookie quarterback with limited experience at the college level. Sanchez needs time to develop into a franchise caliber quarterback. No playoffs in 2008. Quality free agents? What like all three of the Baltimore Raven castoffs? Scott and Leonhard are good players. Marques Douglas is an aging rotational player... We replace Eric Barton, Kenyon Coleman, and Abram Elam - upgrade at SS and ILB. That's it. The defense still has bums like Vernon Gholston, Bryan Thomas, Mike DeVito, and Drew Coleman getting reps. The defensive line is old as dirt - it needs to be rebuilt fast. Darrelle Revis, Kerry Rhodes, and Dwight Lowery are promising defensive backs. The defense obviously isn't as good as our head coach knows it can be. All of the pieces definitely aren't in place. The offensive line isn't as good as everyone seems to think they are. Faneca is not the player he used to be. Ferguson is a pretty good left tackle that should be a Jet for a long time. Mangold is arguably the best center in the league. Moore is decent, but we could do better. Woody is flat out terrible and stupid. I know our offense is running the ball extremely well, but pass protection has been problem as of late. So the hell what if he have a new head coach? I really like Rex Ryan, but he made a mistake with keeping most of Mangini's staff...needed to start fresh.
No kidding. If the Jets as an organization had no plans for the playoffs this year, then they would not have traded for Braylon Edwards. They would have taken their lumps this year and kept those draft picks. Teams can have success with rookie QBs in the free agency era. There have been several examples. The personnel was improved this past offseason in my estimation. I don't think anyone save crazies thought the Jets would contend for a Super Bowl appearance, but expecting them to be a Wild Card team wasn't nuts.
I agree with that. It's not like Rex can come in and in one off-season mold his team after his beliefs (excuse for the Defense). Plus he has to learn how to be a good HC too (excuse for the in-game managment). The offense has a Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde coordinator plus a rookie at QB (excuse for the Defense). The only inexcusable thing is the ST failure tonight but this was the first game they sucked + traded away our strongest ST (Trusnik) + shit happens. All in all we are a team with potential over the next 2-3 seasons and even more if we use the draft / FA wisely. Although we have some veterans we are a young team that needs to develop to it's full potential. This season Rex and the CS have to understand how to use their team to 100% of their potential... so far, although we are experiencing growing pains, I think we are on the right track. Only thing... fire Schotty and promote Callahan with Cavanugh helping on the passing plays.
