Great interview and very interesting on the fake punts. I'm always thrilled that despite all the incoming head coaches they have been able to keep him around.

I will tell you though....... that operation he had last year on his leg seems to have worked. He gets around pretty good as far as I can tell. ..... He was all over the place yelling and directing people..... good to see.

I didn't think it was possible for me to love Westhoff any more than I already do, but that interview did it! Oh my God, that was classic.

My two favorite bits were his comments on Pete Carrol (he still regrets not confronting him after the game in which Carrol gave the choke sign to the Miami FG kicker) and the final comment (If God gave him a choice between beating the dolphins and spending eternity in heaven, he'd ask for 24 hours to think it over!).

    Thanks for posting that GreenMachine!

Excellent article. I removed my original post, probably offensive.

Why did Miami fire him in the first place? Refresh my memory or did the Jets give him a better offer?

    Never knew this...

    ■ Westhoff began his collegiate playing career at Wyoming in 1965, where he was a starting outside linebacker as a freshman for the Cowboys.

    ■ He transferred to Wichita State, where he started for three years at both center and linebacker, with Bill Parcells as his defensive coordinator.

Damn BP knows everyone, too bad he didn't stick with one team.

I don't think he was fired. When Jimmy Johnson quit after the 99 season, the fins named Dave Wannstedt HC and I think Westoff was pissed that he was not given consideration and passed over for the younger less experienced coach. So Westoff told them to go fuck themselves and came over to the enemy (us) and made it his mission in life to fuck the dolphins twice a year.

That's the story as I remember it, but I could be wrong.

Sounds good enough of a vendetta to me.
