"Bad franchises usually have non football people making football decisions" Is this true? I would consider Tanny more of an accountant..... Paul DePodesta to Bill Parcells Billy Beane
Exactly my first thought. Though I also followed it up with "...who couldn't stop smoking weed long enough to stay in the league, and went to find himself."
The fact that Tanny is the one actually pulling the trigger on the decisions doesn't mean he only values his perspective. I think in every football decision made by the Jets the scouting department and the coaching staff have their say and Tanny looks at it from a business perspective. His ability is to stir all these various P.O.V. (don't know, maybe this abbreviation is only used in porn) together and evaluate if globally a decision makes sense or not. It's not like Tanny goes to a college game and evaluates the players by himself... everyone is in charge of their own input and Tanny just puts it all togehter...
I met Ditka last winter, right after Rex was hired. Asked if he knew him, he said he didn't but thought we were going to have a good defense. Nice guy.
Thanks for reminding me. Dont forget he gave up a 1st & a 3rd the following year as well. Set us back 5 years, especially since the next group used the 2 1st rounders we got for Rickey on Jonathan Sullivan, who wasnt in the league for 3 years. Ditka is a tool.
A life size Chuck Norris or a giant Chuck Norris? Because a miniature Ditka could take a life size Chuck Norris, but I don't know about a giant one.
Who Tannenbaum? He DID bring Favre to you guys, what an awesome move that was. Thanks for that one!
Technically it's the best move he's made as a GM. The Favre trade resulted in: -Mangini being fired (how's that working out for Cleveland?) -Rex Ryan being hired -the Jets acquiring a rookie franchise QB (the first to start from the opening game since Namath I believe?) -acquiring Shonn Greene (you'll find out about him Sunday) -and dumping players like Eric Barton and Abram Elam and instead ending up with Bart Scott and Jim Leonhard... -and oh yeah, the house cleaning also netted us a bunch of excellent coaches in the process too. So yeah, I can't imagine there'd be one Jets fan out there who is still upset with the way that whole ordeal turned out.
