The 2009 New York Jets today became one of 6 teams in NFL History to run for over 300 yards in consecutive weeks.

It has never been done 3 straight weeks. Hell if we manage to do it against Miami (#2 run defense last time we played them) and set the record, no one will be allowed to nay-say the ground game for the rest of the year.

Fantastic work by the OL and RBs the last two weeks, figured it should be noted for the whole board.

*Chris Berman said this on SC tonight while I was waiting for SNF to start. so if the stat is wrong blame him not me!

I have no idea who the other teams are, maybe Cakes can chime in with the answer?

During the game they said it was only the second time it's happened since 1960.

I don't see us getting 300 yards vs. Miami, let alone 200.

Not that it matters, but he has said his favorite team is the Giants and he also likes the Bills.

Yes....the Bills did it on Thanksgiving in the mid 70's with OJ and lost to the Lions... Thanks to Cakes for that.

Nobody knows his true allegiances. It's all just speculation.

I've heard he's a Jets fan, I've heard he's a Bills fan. The fact that two div rivals are both rumored means nobody knows.

ummm Not that it matters but Berman is pretty much well known as growing up a Jets fan. He was born and raised in fairfield county, was a season ticket holder and was at the 68 AFL championship game as a 12 yo. He still goes a little crazy for the J-E-T-S

He definately has become a bills sympathizer because has became good friends with Ralph Wilson.

I heard that it has happened eight times. I know of five.
Jets on 10/18/09 (lost to Bills 13-16)
Bills on 11/25/76 (lost to Lions 14-27)
Packers on 10/8/50 (lost to Yanks 31-44)
Cardinals on 10/30/49 (lost to Giants 38-41)
Rams on 11/5/44 (lost to Redskins 10-14)

I can definitely find the other three occasions, but it would take some time looking through various reference books. I did know that Bills one off the top of my head, though.

Another note on that team- circa 1984 I purchased a 1976 annual. The Bills were coming off an 8-6 mark in 1975 and were picked to win the AFC East in 1976. They proceeded to go 2-12. Clearly, one of the worst NFL predictions ever.

    Buffalo Bills in 1975
Week 1: 64 rushes for 309 yards in 42-14 win over Jets
Week 2: 46 rushes for 310 yards in 30-21 win at Pittsburgh

Running through the Steel Curtain for 310 yards was quite a feat.

The Bills came close to doing it again in Week 3. In their 38-14 win over Denver, they ran the ball 60 times for 293 yards.

But we are the first team to run for 300 yards and have a player consume a hot-dog on the bench

A rare great Cardinals team almost did it three weeks in a row-

    10/10/48: 56 rushes, 320 yards
    10/17/48: 34 rushes, 299 yards (a 63-35 win over Giants)
    10/24/48: 52 rushes, 300 yards

It was the first time since 1960, I'm not surprised they did it so much in the olden days...
