Just happened. The entire ST unit of the Raiders were running downfield with Weatherford.....i don't know what to say...all i can say is if the jets were the receiving team and pulled that i'd want my ST coordinator fired immediately.

Weatherford did nothing to sell the fake. The raiders just suck

hilarious moment, most of the raiders had no idea and looked as if they were gonna block for weatherford. great play call.

Best fake punt ever was probably Miami punter Larry Seiple's 37-yard run in the 1972 AFC Championship Game at Pittsburgh. All 11 Steelers on the field were fooled.

I don't think that was a fake punt, but I could be wrong. I think he mishandled the snap and saw pressure and didn't think he could get the punt off in time. If it wasn't a fake, Weatherford needs to learn how to catch a snap. I know it worked this time, but it didn't work last week and cost us the game. I think he did the same thing against Miami on the first punt. I was at the bar and couldn't hear sound, but this is the impression I got.

i laughed my ass off at this play. how did nobody notice he never kicked the ball? a few raiders were still on the line as he did his fake and they just turned and ran.

big credit to Mike Westhoff, who I continue to believe is the best ST coach in the NFL, and to Rex, for having the guts to call a fake punt while deep in their own territory.

people keep saying they are mishandled snaps and not fake punts even though he keeps saying he is calling fake punts. If hes lieing we have had like 5 mis handled snaps.

    It is called scouting.

The only way you call that fake punt, especially just run up the middle, is to watch alot of tape and see that the Raiders always just run back as the ball is snapped in that situation. Give the Coaching staff credit for exploiting that.

I wonder if he has the "green light" to run when the right situation exists with the other team's defense. Sure seems that way. Seemed that way @ Miami too.

i think you misunderstood my point...if my ST unit was fooled as badly as the raiders were w the entire coverage team running downfield to cover the punt, stride for stride with the other teams punter who was carrying the ball for a good 10 yards I would be livid with my coordinator....

where did i take anything away from our coaching?

i really enjoyed this fake punt during the game alot....i wish we could do that alot more because we would have the ball on offense alot.

It was a designed play idiot. Look at the blocking. A great fake punt play but I disagree with calling it in that situation.

No, that was absolutely not a designed play. Every player on the Jets was running down the field to cover the punt; that's why every Raider was, as well.

Westhoff lightly reprimanded Weatherford after the play, made him practice taking snaps afterward. Rex was thrilled, Westhoff probably was too, but he didn't let it show.

No way that was a designed play.
