I doubt he sees the same contract. He might get a large ::looking:: contract but I bet it boils down to a 1~2 year "prove-it" deal, heavily back-loaded and we re-work it again if he has truly recovered...still, I feel for the guy, even if it was partially his fault Edit: and by "his fault" I mean the contract stuff, not the injury!
Oh, the joy of having more than two serviceable running backs. ...just wish I could say the same about every other position on the team.
I love Leon with or without a compound fracture, see you next year when we are a legitimate contender
That is what the last post said in the Game Day thread...from ProfootballTalk.com, right before you closed the thread: http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=50220&page=88
TJ is really hurt... Lol he even understands that because security needed these contracts need to be done before playing. man sucks for leon
I had the same thing while playing semi-pro ball and I did not have anything close to the rehab he'll be getting. Other than the typical risidual pain that you have from any major injury, it's been nothing completely bothersome. He may have to have a few screws and a plate put in. I still have mine, and I broke my fibula in Oct. of '99.
I'm praying for Leon. I hope the Jets do the classy thing and take care of Leon with the contract. This won't be the end of his career and if they have a shred of class they'll take care of him. He's worth every penny.
Fuck that. I love Leon. Favorite player on the team. But just as I didn't hold his personal business decisions (not taking fair contract offer) against him, I will not hold the FO playing their hand correctly against them.
http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/f...ton_and_the_jets_are_still_at_odds_over_.html Exihibit A for anyone thinking of hiring Alvin Keels as an agent. What a dunce! Best he could have hoped for was another million or 2 guaranteed. Now he gets zilch unless he heals. ALVIN HE IS A RUNNING BACK! THEY GET HURT ALOT! The salt on the wound is his backup goes for 144 and 2 TD's. We might have to keep an eye out for a return guy on the waiver wire. Leon is a bright, stand up guy. F'n shame.
They don't give you extra room for class on a salary cap. Should have taken what was a great offer. Anyone else glad we kept Woodhead?
There's more to it than class. This won't end Leon's career and he's still going to be a very important player for us in the future. Fire Keels, and give Leon a contract, even if it's at a reduced rate.
Now there's a sensible post. I'm guessing that last one was emotion, as I know you're better than that?
Really hope he is still a Jet next year. I'd hate to think about that play being his LAST in a NYJ uniform.
Was comming here to post somethng along those lines. I love leon and hope he gets well soon, but this is why you sign the long term Deal for guarenteed money. He needs to fire Keels ASAP.
