If he's not 100% by training camp?

Ramsey & Clemmons aren't going anywhere. Bollinger showed ability last season and he now has starting experience plus he's healthy.

IMO If Chad isn't 100% it doesn't make much sense to discard a healthy qb.

I think Chad's lost his status as a franchise qb he shouldn't be untouchable.

Dont overlook Ramsey. I think he will surprise a lot of people. He was in a bad situation in DC.

If Herm was still here I would say no. But with the new regime there is no loyalty to Chad. I think he will be given every chance to make a comeback, however if he can't I see Ramsey being given a short stint, them Clem in the latter part of the year. If Chad is not the man, they will need to know quickly if Ramsey or Clem can be. If one of them shows promise then the QB spot is set for next year, otherwise Brady Quinn =)

I can only pray that Pennington rides the pine for the rest of his days with the Jets. Even when healthy, he wasn't the Pennington of old. Opposing D's commented on how much easier it was to follow his throw before it left the QB's hands, he had lost the passion and swagger we had loved just a few years ago.

There is ZERO loyalty in this organization from here on out. Everyone has a chance to prove themselves. The fact that noodle-arm has yet to start throwing may be indicative as to how bad things still are. Let's not forget that Chad somehow found the wherewithall to go bowling at least 4 weeks ago, and all indications are that he was using his bum arm. Don't give me this crap about range of motion, etc. If the guy can't pick up a football he certainly shouldn't be doing so with a bowling ball.

Pennington's time has come and gone- his window of opportunity has slammed closed. At this point, he's just a waste of roster space- if his cap $ were more friendly he'd be sitting in the stands come August.

The only reason Chad is on this team is for salary cap purposes. He will be cut next offseason after June 1st. His cap hit will be $4.5 million in 2007 and $4.5 million in 2008 and we can look forward to not hearing about him anymore.

I agree! But so many want BROOKS cut BEFORE they even compete in camp!

If Chad is not ready to go IMO they will place him on the active or reserve PUP list....

    No.

The Jets have so much money invested in him that it is worthwhile to see if he can make some kind of comeback.

Look, baseball pitchers have recovered from multiple shoulder injuries and gone on to have moderately successful careers. I do not think that it is harder to throw a football 30 times a game than it is to throw a baseball 100 times a game every five or six days. Moreover, nothing is expected of the team this year. If Pennington flops, we have a quality backup in Ramsey and if he flops, we'll be in a position to draft a quarterback very high next year or hand the reins to Clemens.

As long as they don't rush Pennington back again and they can keep him on his feet while running the ball somewhat effectively, I don't see why he can't be successful. According to a buddy of mine on KFFL, If he can't throw, I imagine they're going to solder a cannon on to his arm which they will fill with gun powder and light before each play. When the ball needs to be thrown, Mangini will push a detonator from the sidelines.

All I know is, is that I am sick of having an unhealthy QB. I love Chad Pennington to death as a person, but as a football player, he couldn't be anymore frustrating.

Chad just cant cut it any more. What rd was ramsey drafted in ? It should be intersting to say the least to see how mangini handles it.

They already restuctured his contract...If he's not 100% or even 80% then they could place him on the PUP list...But not cut.

KOZ, I have to disagree with you on one point. I wouldn't necessarily say that because he has yet to start throwing it "may be indicative as to how bad things are." If the Jets are smart, and I think they are, they should err on the side of caution this time around as opposed to what they did last season. Don't rush him back for a deadline that could undermine his rehab.

If I'm the Jets, I'd make sure he was a 100% healed. No questions asked. Make sure he's 110% healed. And then let him start throwing the ball. If his shoulder does not allow him to compete as a viable NFL quarterback thereafter, then there's no question that the injury is debilitating and will cut his career short. If they rush him back, and he starts throwing prematurely, then you can't get to the bottom of how debilitating the injury was to his shoulder's capability.

Long story short, because he hasn't thrown yet doesn't necessarily show how bad things are with his rehab. It could just show that they are making sure that they get to the bottom of this issue once and for all and leave no wiggle room should the shoulder not perform once it's cleared for action.

Chad's days are numbered here and so are Bollinger's. Chad will be out of the picture in 2007, and the only way Bollinger makes the 2006 squad is if Chad is is not ready to open this season.

Every QB on this roster has to learn a new system and playbook. If Chad isn't ready to go I think Ramsey beats out Brooks.
