Rex is a brand new coach, just got here. Fisher has been there longer than they have been the Tennessee Titans. Like any other job, if you do well for a long period of time you build up a little line of credit where certain things aren't a big deal. Not that it would be a big deal if Rex did it, but he hasn't established himself here the way Fisher has there so he probably wouldn't do something like that at this stage of the game.
This thing is a prime example of the sports media (ESPN in particular) using something to piss off fans to get people to pay attention to their swill version of news. This is totally a non-story.
I love Fisher as a coach, i think he is one of the very best of this era. However, if I was a fan of the Titans that would piss me off to no end. I understand it was a charity event but there is no good explanation for a HC to wear a jersey of a division rival. I would think there has to be a better way of trying to motivate a team that has seemed to quit ion him 6 games into the season. I still think he is a great coach but all that does is further alienate a frustrated fanbase.
His apology was awesome, and applies to some here. ------- “It was for a very, very worthwhile cause, charity,” Fisher said. “I was introducing Tony, just having fun with it and I really apologize if I offended anybody, but if you’re offended over the nature of that type of thing, then I think you need to rethink things." “This is a very worthwhile and needy benefit and I was honored to be there. … I’m sorry if I offended anybody but if I had to do it again, I would do it again.” ------- Winner!
So what is the good explanation then? What did it accomplish? I don't see anything good about a HC wearing a division rivals jersey. How do you know how any of his players really feel about it or any other NFL player for that matter?
What an idiot. If he wanted to feel like a champion he should have been wearing a trent edwards jersey.
