Let me put this differently: The only people on the board who are affected by this are Scik and rico, and rico's going to the game.
This is why my DirecTV Sunday Ticket is a MUST in my house football season down here in S. Fla., otherwise I would be forced to watch the Dolphins:finssuck: The ticket is worth every penny, and i'm guaranteed to get the Jets game every Sunday.
I'm pretty sure the game, if it is blacked out, will only be blacked out in the Bay area. I believe for a 75 mile radius. For instance, if the Dolphins game was blacked out here in S. Fla., you could drive to W. Palm Beach area to watch the game. The Ticket will show the Jets Sunday.
Where did you hear that? Read my posts, go to DirecTV's site. From DirecTV's site. Blackout Rules for Local Team Home Games A regular-season, Sunday afternoon home team game will be blacked out in a home team's territory if the game fails to sell out at least 72 hours before the game. If it is blacked out on your local broadcast station, it will also be blacked out in your area on NFL SUNDAY TICKET. Each stadium's local blackout area is defined by the broadcast signal of the local affiliate carrying the game, not by the mileage surrounding the stadium.
But for DirectTV customers the game is considered a local feed for the home team and is subject to the blackout rules, at least that's how it was interpreted on the FAN
Yes, the ticket is subject to blackout rules. Blackout rules state that a game that is not sold out cannot be shown in the home team's local market. That means Sunday Ticket cannot show the game in the home team's local market. It will show the game everywhere else in the country.
Gotcha!! I thought that would've sucked for people who paid to see the games. The report on 660 WFan was different but that was months ago, they probably didn't do their research, big shocker...
In the "adding insult to injury" department, due to the 1 PM kickoff of the Jets-Raiders game, the replacement game for the blackout customers in Oakland and San Francisco is Buffalo @ Carolina.
Yup- Right from DirectTV's Sunday ticket informational page: Blackout Rules for Local Team Home Games A regular-season, Sunday afternoon home team game will be blacked out in a home team's territory if the game fails to sell out at least 72 hours before the game. If it is blacked out on your local broadcast station, it will also be blacked out in your area on NFL SUNDAY TICKET. Each stadium's local blackout area is defined by the broadcast signal of the local affiliate carrying the game, not by the mileage surrounding the stadium. The NFL requests broadcasters to black out games for a number of reasons: To make sure your local team benefits from a stadium full of enthusiastic fans. To protect home game attendance of the teams. To assure the entertainment value of a full stadium ? for people in the stands and for people watching TV. To protect local television coverage.
Ouch, that really sucks. CBS couldn't find anything better to put up there, they should air a older game or something, lol
Come on down to the "hangar", Scik....I have Sunday ticket in HD...with surround sound, a fridge full of beer and full liquor cabinet (i know you drink like an aristocrat).
