Best Sanchez Scenario?

  1. Start him for the entire Season, regardless of how he performs.

    67.1%
  2. Start him until he makes serious mistakes.

    10.4%
  3. Bring him in half way through the season, or at some other time.

    14.5%
  4. Let him learn from the Sidelines.

    8.1%

Ryan should've pulled Sanchez for at least a series after the 4th pick last week. Not only would it have given the kid a chance to clear his head, but it also would've given the young QB a chance to survey the defense from the sideline, and really see what the coverages were.

Sanchez would've learned that the defense was focused on Braylon Edwards and Keller, and that he should be faking to those guys more and looking for Clowney and his check downs.

Going forward, Sanchez needs to start this week--especially in his native California climate (hopefully will be warm), and should only be removed if he spirals down again like last week.

If Clemens or Ainge come in and lose or "manage" the team to win, Sanchez still starts the following week.

In the unlikely event that either of the back-ups look like Tom Brady, then you might have a decision to make for the Miami game--but I would still start Mark.

That's unlikely. We have had an "open QB competition" in pre-season where Clemens had a chance to win the starting job for like the past ...what... 3-4 years? With the exception of last year with Favre.

Clemens has failed to impress the coaching staff enough and has lost the QB competition to noodle-arms and rookies several years in a row now. He's not going to get thrown into a game and look like Brady. It just aint gonna happen. Rex Ryan is right: Dirty gives us the best chance to win.

While this may be true, they also have photos from overhead they can show him between series without having to pull him from the game to get a better look at the coverages.

If he showed anything last year they might not have gotten Favre. Pennington was beating him for the job and then the Favre move was made.

After thinking about this. I think we leave Sanchez in and let him take his lumps and learn for the future. It is pretty evident at this point, though tough to admit, that we aren't as good as we thought we were. We are also suffering from key injuries on D and O.

Keep coaching Sanchez and make sure he continues to develop and get better throughout the year. That should be the plan. Anything else which includes Clemens will do more harm than good. Only use Clemens if Sanchez gets hurt.

Sanchez could correct all of his flaws by the next game and start playing really well and we will still lose some games based on our defensive state of affairs. Yes, I hope I am very wrong, but this is looking very much like another year were the Lombardi is not coming to the NYJs.

You have to let sanchez ride out the season. Just because it started out good and now has gone to shit, doesnt mean give up, you have to stay committed him. He is a rook and needs to learn. Hang in there jets fans.

Sanchez had a decent game against Miami. I'd be really surprised if a move is made to sit him down at any point but I'd be shocked if it happens before the Miami game.

he was too busy standing on the bench waving a towel trying to be a cheerleader. meanwhile he SHOULD HAVE been elbows deep in pictures from the game.

i will say when it is out of control like last week he does need to get the reigns pulled in and let the 2nd stringer do what he can for at least a series. as far as the season the only reason you would do that is if you have an older team that will be broken up soon and dont want to miss your window of opportunity... that or you are trying to sell psls.

There is not even a question here. You play him. He learns by playing and not by watching. If you bench him, you don't know what you have in him, he loses valuable on-the-job experience, you create possible controversy, and you might hurt his confidence.

If anyone thought the Jets were going to the Super Bowl this year with a rookie QB, they were crazy. Even the playoffs were a stretch.

When you draft and play a rookie QB, you are playing for 2-3 years down the road. Let's all have a little patience. This is not a win now team anyway. Most of the key players are young. How many older players do the Jets have that do not have 3-4 years or more left? Jones and Ellis and that is about it. The next 2-3 years are all about letting the QB grow up, finding a pass rush, upgrading positions that need upgrading, and possibly building some depth.

I agree completely with the sentiment on Sanchez.

Your question about how many players aren't likely to be around in 2 or 3 years is key though and there are more players than you listed that are in that category: Kris Jenkins (no way his career has much left after both knees have been operated on, that's just the probabilities - he has back trouble too and the knees will put more strain there), Alan Faneca (can't be projected to be worth much at 36 when he's already slowing down dramatically at 33), Tony Richardson, Larry Izzo, the other DE (whoever that is in this 3-4 he isn't going to be around much longer), Brandon Moore (will be 32 and he's a JAG now - JAG's do not play into their mid 30's the way good players do, or if they do it's on bad teams), Bart Scott and Calvin Pace will both be 32 - which is exactly where Marvin Jones retired - Mo Lewis was finished at 34 - and I don't think either of the guys we have at the moment are as good as either of those guys was.

The Jets have real issues coming up down the road. We'll need to draft very carefully over the next few years to make up the difference for the depth we've lost and the potential that signing free agents removed from our future.

    that's the thing.

its now time to have another 10 pick draft.

Tanny needs to duplicate the success in April of 06... more than once.

These are the things I don't see because I sit low on the visitors side of the field, at least for this year. The whole bit in Sanchez's press conference yesterday about his demeanor was news to me because I can't really see him from where I sit when the O is off the field. A lot of times I'll go home and watch the TV broadcast at night but this week the Dodgers were on and then I ended up falling asleep. Plus I didn't want to see the game again and the OT didn't record, so I just deleted what I had.
