Carlos Dunlap isn't a nose tackle, but he'd be a hell of a 3-4 end. He's the most talented lineman to enter the draft since Mario Williams.

I like Suh a lot, but I don't really like him as a nose in the 3-4.

McCoy seems like a 4-3 DT as well.

How high is Gilyard projected to go? He'd be a perfect slot receiever

And yeah, a DE/NT prospect in the first is key. Offensive line is a big need as well

Nagging injuries? He twisted his knee last season and missed a couple of weeks. That's about it.

The guy weighs almost 380 pounds...of course he's going to take plays off. That's the whole point of having a rotation on the defensive line.

As a prospect, he's the best 3-4 nose tackle in all of college football. Sure, he's not the best defensive lineman, but he's the best pure NT.

Cody battles constant double teams and allows his linebackers to make plays all over the field. I truly believe that Bama has the best defensive in the country and it's because of Terrence Cody's ability to free up room for his supporting cast.

With Jenkins officially on IR, hopefully this will be a wake up call to the Jet's organization the importance of depth at NT. Rd 1 Cody or Rd 2/3 Boo Robinson and others to be considered...Jerrell Powe, Cam Thomas, or teammate Marvin Austin.

One of the above 5 needs to be drafted by the Jets.....it's a must!!!

Jerrell Powe would be a nice rotational nose tackle. The guy's supposedly the dumbest person on the planet though.

ughh...we already have a first round LB that's having trouble figuring out the defensive playbook....we don't need another dummy on the Defensive Line too.

I don't believe Gholston's problem is the playbook, he just doesn't have the ability to make plays on an NFL level. Gholston is not reacting and thinking too much. Gholston will NEVER be a 3-4 OLB....the experiment is over. Hopefully we can salvage his career and he can play DE in 4-3 situations.......a lot of coin for a part time player.

As far as Powe, he couldn't even read and graduated High School. Powe has shown he can be an effective Defensive lineman and would be a good rotational guy, as Mr.E stated. Especially in Rex's system you need multiple D-Lineman to rotate.

I really really want to get Mt Cody. He sounds like just the player we need.

Maybe it's extreme, but I want us to go DL with both of our 1st round picks. It's just such an old unit and a big young NT and DE like Wootton would completely revamp the DL. They can address CB and RT or LG in FA and take an OL in the 4th. Then go with a WR or 3rd RB late in the Draft for depth.

...since when do we have two first round picks?

Also, no matter who we bring in, it's most likely going to take them awhile to contribute...whether it's Mount Cody, Carlos Dunlap, Corey Wootton, or Arthur Jones - they're gonna have to learn how to play at the next level.

A few other posters and I have been questioning this defensive line for a couple of seasons now. We've done absolutely nothing to get younger at defensive end or nose tackle.

Kris Jenkins was a big time acquisition, but he's not going to play much longer.

Shaun Ellis has lost a step and should be replaced soon.

Sione Pouha has overachieved this season, but without Jenkins, he'll probably crash and burn.

Marques Douglas is a stop gap player.

Mike DeVito is a waste of a roster spot. I know the guy tries hard, but there has to be someone more talented than this bum.

Ropati Pitoitua is a fucking huge player, but that looks like all he has going for him.

    I meant first two picks.

I agree with you, we need to go DL more than once in this Draft. Cody and Wotton/Ogho would be sick, or we could go Arthur Jones and Boo Robinson.

I think we'd be better served signing a veteran pass rusher. If Dansby, Merriman, or anyone else hits the market, Tanny should push hard like he always does to sign him

It just kills me more & more to watch that asshole Favre slinging it out in Minnesota. Its a constant reminder that we had to give up a 3rd round pick for that POS. A lost 3rd round pick that now comes back to bite us in the ass because its something we certainly could have used for NT depth now that Jenkins is lost for the season. Could have been Dorell Scott or Sammie Lee Hill.

Darell Scott hasn't done anything in St. Louis, even with Adam Carriker on the IR. Remember this, Clemson runs a 43. Scott can't even make the transition into the same defense he played at the college level. Spags brought two guys off the practice squad instead of letting Scott play DT for them.

Sammie Lee Hill would've been a nice addition. Schwartz spoke highly of him...and then he got injured.

Hindsight is 20/20. Tanny was (and still is) in a "win now mode" and thought #4 would lead us to a championship. Tanny knew Brett was going to be one and done and it was worth the risk.

I'm OK with trading draft picks for proven players...ala Edwards. There will be a time we need to develop some of our own draft picks. Trading draft picks for players and Free agent pick-ups works in the short term and can hurt the depth of the team.

The Colts keep their draft picks, very rarely use FA and re-sign their players......a winning formula. Bill Polian knows how to get it done.....success at Buffalo and Carolina also. Buffalo is a dumpster fire since he left.

Dunlap's been doubled teamed the entire season, much like Mario Williams the year he came out. It's why Cunninghamm is having such a great season.

Carlos has a shitload of hurries and his job is mainly to eat up space on the outside for Spikes and the other backers to make plays.

You don't find guys that are 6'6 290 that can run a 4.5 to 4.6 very often.

Dunlap is almost a Mario clone, similar size and athleticism. You're right on about the double teams...after last year's awesome numbers. If Tyson Jackson went #5 last year, Dunlap should be a top 3 pick.....the Browns would take Dunlap in a heartbeat. I love Jermaine Cunningham, one of the best edge rushers in College Football and should project well as a 3-4 OLB.

    I had the same thought.
Edwards and Cotch are a great tandem. What we need is a Wes Welker type guy for the slot.
