it's apparent...we defenitly need to bring in someone. Baltimore seems like the logical shopping grounds...since we run the same defensive schemes. But we're running out of draft picks, E.....I don't want the Jets to sacrifice their 1st day picks for backup players.
MrElectric I know it's far too early to speculate but say now with the loss of Jenkins our record is bad enough that we might be in the top 3-5. Do you draft Suh? I think you almost have to if that's the case. Because even if Jenkins comes back next year he most likely won't be the same..he would however be a good rotation with him and Suh
Gholston is mangini's boy, send him to the browns for some picks.......or some players on the browns practice squad.
If we end up with a top 5 pick, Tannenbaum should trade out unless Carlos Dunlap is there. I like Suh, but it'd be better to pick up more picks. Suh seems like he can be a very versatile player in the 3-4, but I don't know if he's a true nose. Mount Cody would be a better fit and we could get him later in the draft.
I don't want to give up anymore picks either...at least 2010 picks. If our front office and coaching staff is set on winning now, they are going to do something stupid to bring some players to stop the bleeding. It scares me.
We have to get something for Thomas Jones. The Shonn Greene trade up/pick is a waste right now. Trading Kellen Clemens wouldn't be smart. Sanchez needs a somewhat experienced QB on the roster to talk things over with.
if we get something for T.Jones...it won't be from the Ravens....they're loaded at that position. But I agree with you...Jones should be trade bait at this point...especially with the monster game he had yesteday....that should drive up his value somewhat.
Oh I know - I almost mentioned Ray Rice, Willis McGahee, and Leron McClain but I figured even casual fans should know Baltimore isn't looking for a running back. I really don't know if anyone in the league is looking for a running back at this point though...it sucks.
I'd rather stand pat...and just sign some ham n' egger off the street.....next year's draft is more important than mortgaging our future for a "bandaid" fix this season. If Rex is as good as he chirps about....he should be able to make due with what he has.
Don't you make deadline deals to get that extra piece for a Super Bowl run? All I am saying is there is no need to now. Trade players away maybe, but not trade for some more.
my biggest fear is that Tanny gets spooked and pulls a Jerry Jones by trading away a shitload of picks for some overrated bum (like in the Roy Williams trade). Somebody should sneak into Tanny's office, smash his cell phone, and tear out his LAN line......that should buy us enough time to sneak by the deadline.
It's not baseball man. Losing Kris Jenkins, who is our best defensive lineman, with no real replacement is a huge problem. If the coaching staff and the front office thinks this team can win now, then they might go out and get someone...which would probably be a mistake.
i think the jets would be sellers and not buyers at this point though tthey wouldn't dare share that with the public......thomas jones value may be highest - right now....... i wouldn't be shocked if he is gone by tomorrow. the jets cannot take another top 5 or so contract on the books - courtesy of VG - he is screwing us more ways than one..... we have got edwards and LW to sign - plus i am sure Pace, jenkins, faneca and maybe even revis stand to make more in 2010 - not positive about the money though but i am sure these guys salaries escalate after a year or 2. if the jets do end up in the top 10 or higher in '10 - they HAVE to trade out and gather picks. jil
Fire sale. Everyone (well, almost everyone) on the roster is on the block, for the right price. We need to sock away some more picks for this years draft.
