is a FA next year. If by any chance he hits the open market i hope we make a huge push for him. He would add such great flexibility and a leader to our defense.

You actually think he will hit the open market?

Also, he is a terrible fit for the 3-4.

Put Dwight Freeney in a 3-4 defense and you take half his game away. He'd know that, and I expect he wouldn't be eager to sign with a team intending to turn him into a linebacker.

I'd say that there is a great chance for the Jets to land him next year...

Wouldn't be surprised if he gets his extension during the season.

They let James go specifically so they had the flexibility to get the deal done

RB is different from pass rusher. There are many RBs. There are only so many good, let alone great pass rushers...

Yep, thats a reason why james went to the cardinals, so they can sign freeney.

I could have sworn I read somewhere that they locked up Freeney long term and that was one of the main reasons they had to let James go. Am I misinformed?

The coaching staff has always said they will play multiple sets...I'm sure if they got Freeney they would figure out how to play to his strenghts.

Freeney isn't even the best player on that D (Cato June). Shouldn't you be able to tackle someone who isn't a QB to be known as the best defensinve player?

I hate SU.. and their football team is one step ahead of the University of Buffalo! Paul Pasqualoni (sp?) is laughing his ass of right now!!

Freeney is a fairly one dimensional player. Granted, he is an excellent pass rusher, but he's still a guy that teams can run right at and run right over. I wouldn't be too worried about him when he hits the open market.

This would be absoulutely terrible, this guy doesn't know left from right, how could we possibly let him play football. Worst thread so far this year.

That's funny a Duke fan who hates another team! I'm shocked!
