Guys over the past year we have KILLED WOODY JOHNSON. Some people have been down right rough on the guy. WITH THAT SAYING I would LIKE TO THANK WOODY JOHNSON FOR HAVING THE VISION TO BRING IN TANNY AND MANGINI TO THE JETS. Without his vision this would not have happened. I dont think we have had this good of a draft ever since I have been alive. ONCE again. THANK YOU MR JOHNSON.
silly thread but i have said here before that theres no reason at this point to hate woody...i never understood the woody hatred to begin with....on the other hand, lets wait a while before thanking him for bringin in mangini....we dont really know much about him yet.....and i agree the draft was solid
See I dont understand this. Everybody needs to look back and think about ALL OF THE BLUNDERS AND FAILURES THIS TEAM HAS. For once so far it seems like we are ahead of the game and you guys are calling this a silly thread. Talk about taking things for granted. You guys might think so but I know for sure IM not.
Mangini and Tannebaum haven't done anything yet. 0 wins. Might want to see what we do in actual games before you praise the owner for having some great vision.
We havent even played a game yet... Plus this is not the franchises best draft in 2000 we had Coles, Pennington, Ellis, Abraham. In 2002 we had Moss, Jordan, McKenzie. Both those drafts were sick. None of these guys have even played a game yet so lets wait to reserve judgment whether it is negative or positive.
He's worse than Hess. Hires nothing but corporate empty suits like Terry Bradway and Jay Cross. Why does Jay Cross still have a job? He was hired to get a Westside Stadium. It took Hess thirty odd years but eventually he hired a football man in Bill Parcells. Maybe some day Woody Johnson will have his own Bill Parcells moment.
i didnt mean to offend you bro,i should have left the silly part out...im just sayin its early like the other guys said...relax,have a cream soda and we'll watch the tangini project as it unfolds..ok?
Jury's still out on Tangini, as most have pointed out, but I think we can safely say this about Woody: thank God he's not Ralph Wilson.
actually woody didn't bring Tannenbaum here...Parcells did. And it was Tannenbaum who pursuaded woody and bradway to get Mangini as our new coach. So really we should be thanking Parcells for the staff we have now. Although we should say thank you to Woody for at least signing off on the Mangini hire./
Yo Jonny no offense tacken. Its all good we are here for the same goal. Your right guys lets lock this one up.
If nothing else, at least it isn't another "We will regret not getting Leinart" thread! I do think Woody has more come into his own this year. He's had some big growing pains, but let's remember a few things. Parcells was the one who convinced Woody to bring in Bradway. Parcells was the one who set us up for the cap hell we experiended a few months ago. Parcells buddy Bellicrap left town, after knowing for years he was the heir-apparent to the Jets throne. Woody has tried to rebound by moving Tanny to the GM spot. Woody respected Tanny enough to let him bring in Mangini. Woody refused to cave in to NY government, and although I hate that they won't be "coming home" he did what was right for his team. He got the facilities that a NFL club deserves in this age. He didn't move the team to LA. He mandated not overpaying underqualified athletes any longer. He got himself on the committee to find the next NFL commisioner. He even earned the respect of Bobby Kraft during the CBA talks! (Yes, I despise Kraft, but it really says something that he worked with Woody during negotiations. We are a huge rival, in more than one sport, for that area. We are trying to copy his team's success style. We even stole one of his coaches! Yet, he still grew to respect Woody.) I don't know about you guys, but that's a pretty impressive resume for less than a decade's work IMO. Yes, it's still early to judge a lot of moves, but at least we know that he is actively pursuing the goal he laid out when he made his opening announcement, to bring a Super Bowl title to US, the FANS.
It's easy to pick on Wilson now that he's old but I give him a lot of credit for keeping the Bills on sound financial ground in a depressed economic area like Buffalo for more than 45 years. His Bills have also been to two AFL Championship Games, winning one, and four consecutive Super Bowls, a record that may never be broken. I also know there is a Ralph Wilson Stadium but I don't remember hearing anything recently about a Woody Johnson Stadium despite the Jets having such a huge market in NYC/NJ.
