Ok so how many draft picks do we have for the upcoming draft.. with all these conditional picks.. im confused as fuck.. In the BE trade we gave up our third and fifth right?.. but in the Lito trade.. we gave a conditional pick that was a 4th that could turn into a second.. But if we already gave away our third to CLE.. now what?? are the Jets just anticipating that Lito won't meet the conditions to make it a 3rd.. so as of right now we have four picks?? right or wrong.. I'm thinking 1st - (Jets) 2nd - (Jets) 3rd - ( CLE) 4th- (PHI) 5th- ( CLE) 6th- (Jets) 7th- ( Jets) But then was there a conditional pick with O Connell too.. So does that mean we are losing a 6th or 7th rounder too??.. dropping us down to three??.. I just see that our main problem is depth.. and with the trades.. its only leaving the UFA (Undrafted) for us to scrap at..
Here's what's going on: The Jets still have their 1, 2, 4, 6, & 7. The Braylon Edward's trade we gave the Browns 3 & 5..... based on unannounced catches/playing time the 3 can turn into a 2...but it's doubtful it will happen. Lito Sheppard deal we gave the Eagles a draft pick for 2009's draft. There is a conditional pick for 2010 2-4 based on playing time and the Jet's signing Sheppard before FA (March), which isn't going to happen, since Lito would be paid 10 Mill bonus. Lito would hit FA and sign with the Jets and owe Philly zip!!...similar to the Vilma deal the Saints brokered. Rd 7 pick is conditional for O'Connell....terms undisclosed. Doubtful we will owe anything to the Patsies. ReCap: Jets will still probably have 5 picks.....1,2,4,6, & 7
we're in pretty decent shape then....5 picks, going into this draft..... I wouldn't be opposed to acquiring more picks either.....the Jets need to restock their shelves in a few areas....OL, DL, CB, blocking TE
I doubt that we got O'connell for nothing so either the 6th or 7th is gone. That will leave us with 4 picks. With the 1st and 2nd round picks safe. This is supposed to be a good draft class.
i still want to see 6 people drafted come april. if there is anyone on this team we can get picks for, i'm for it. I still think if Terrance Cody is the next Kris Jenkins, trade jenkins for a 2nd and 4th, get Cody by any means possible, and then acquire whoever else to fill the needs.
I'm on board with this line of thinking. The Jets need to take advantage of this draft talent pool....by any means necessary....if that means trading Jenkins..then so be it. Cody should be on the top of our draft list......as well as Suh and/or Dunlap.
Do you think we can ship Clemens for maybe a conditional 6th round pick? I don't see us carrying 4 QBs again next year and I think Clemens is done as a Jet after this year..
From everything I've heard, O'Connell is a conditional pickup. The terms of the condition were undisclosed. So far O'Connell has only dressed once and hasn't seen the field. So don't be so sure we will owe anything for O'Connell. IMO, the Jets will have picks...1,2,4,6 & 7
We can get a pick for Rhodes( a 3rd at best), Clemens is a FA after this season. I would also consider getting rid of Brian Thomas( Adulius Thomas will be available) and we have to see the cap hit if we cut Gholston.
