    this was hysterical.

I could take this paragraph as a template and use it for other conversations in daily life.

Seriously? Try becoming a Bills fan or even a Raiders fan, then you'll know what "this team always finds a way to punch me in the gut" really means. You are a knowledgeable poster. You know better that we didn't throw the game away. Miami played superb to be honest. Their offense was pretty good while our defense was regressing. But by no means, the Jets 'found a way to punch us in the guts'. There were I think 7 lead changes (5 alone in the 4th quarter) and that suggests that the game was very interesting and close, to say the least.

The Raiders are a joke now (ala the Kotite years here), but overall they have been a very successful franchise. The Bills are a pretty hapless franchise....losing 4 SBs. The thing with the Jets is that they dangle promise in front of you and then yank it away. This week wasn't the worst loss, but it just was a set-up and let-down. The Pats lose, the Jets are being proclaimed a great team (or at least defense), national TV, and we blow it. Granted, the better team won, but they should have been able to make a defensive stop.

The game was immensely entertaining/exciting. However, that last drive was frustrating. I'm not giving up and saying that the sky is falling or even saying "woe is us"....I'm just saying that despite knowing full well this team's history of let-down losses, I still get emotionally sucked in and feel like crap after a loss like this.

EDIT - Plus, my posting style is to operate with a "slight" sense of hyperbole.

^I just hate to see people bashing the Jets, even if they are a fan themselves. I'd bash for obvious reasons, but not for a close fought game. I love this team, regardless of its history. It will take one season and we'd be a happy bunch of posters. I have a feeling that day will come with in the next 3-4 years.

You must be young. Give it another decade.

DBJ just think about it this way.

Every good team goes through a couple of difficult losses in a season.

This one was one of them...And a thing you can take away from this is that we should beat the Bills and Raiders then we face the Dolphins the 2nd TIME AROUND.

Remember last year we beat them week 1 and they beat us week 17...They had the last laugh.
Thats what we got here for us in 3 weeks.

This Jets team is different in terms of style...but i understand the bad karma and history against us...We have to go out there and get the job done the rest of the way.

I am pretty young, compared to most other posters here I believe. I've been following the Jets since 1990, when I first started watching NFL. The 90s era wasn't much to rave about (no pun intended). This last decade has been pretty decent overall IMO.

intelligence, socio-economic status or any other of these type of factors have nothing to do with what you're feeling.

it's the love and passion we have for the team....certainly masochistic in many ways, that causes this to permeate in other aspects of our lives. the huge emotional investment....from reading articles, to posting on forums, to screaming at the tv. it certainly creates a feeling of loss (like a bad breakup) when the team does poorly or things don't happen like expected

im like this with the knicks, mets and jets.....but at least with the knicks and mets i can usually concede the season at a certain point. with football, its harder becasue there's only so many opportunities and theres so much build up during the week and even in the game

I am in my late 30's and support three teams:

    England (soccer)
    NY Jets
    Newcastle United (soccer)

The last time any of these three teams won anything was in the 60's and before I was born, so no team I have ever supported has ever won anything in my lifetime.

    I think I may be a jinx.

/me starts to root for the patriots.

I said it before and I'll say it again, I'll be satisfied with .500 this season. You people are expecting too much of this young team/quarterback/coach. Give them another year or two, and I think we'll all be pleasantly surprised.

Bills, at Faders, Dolphins, Jags, at Pats, Panthers, at Bills, at Bucs, Falcons, At Colts, Bengals.

You are saying you'd be happy to lose 6 of these matchups?

only a Herm team would do that.

this is not a Herm team. They're better than that.

Also is Big Gorilla serious? 500 season? dude the team has started off 3-0, 3 games any experts didnt really see us winning! NO was a tough game, but the Miami game hurt. Miami is better than most people think, because of no pennington. But Gorilla comeon man I know we have a rookie head coach, and QB but look at the rest of the team. Its built to win now. I think we have a favorable Sched until our bye week comes, we should win them all unless we lay an egg like we did on Monday Night

As a jets mets and knicks fan at age 19 I have never witnessed any of my teams win a championship. Ive seen the mets and the knicks get to one but not really come close to winning it. The closest thing I have to a championship is the new jersey devils but I was never a die-hard hockey fan, though i do enjoy it more and more as time goes on. But I know when that championship does come around (the fucked up thing is i think the jets will be the first to win a championship) it will be so rewarding. Im almost glad i havent witnessed one yet because as someone mentioned it indeed is "character building" and I will enjoy a world series victory ten times more than the average yankee fan does and i will enjoy a superbowl ten times more than the average giant fan. Thats my excuse at least, i have to at least attempt to justify this madness.
