All I heard in the off season was we needed a WR, well my friends, we got him, damn good one too. Our D has proven that we are in ANY game and with the addition of Edwards, it's going to open Cotchery and Keller up and I doubt we will see 8 in the box much anymore. If they all stay healthy, could this be the year we've waited for 40 years to come?? I'm not one to say "OMGWTFBBQ TEH SUPERZ BOWL" But seriously, have we had a better chance in 40 years than we have right now with this team??
Sanchez really needs to settle in at QB before we start making real noise and living up to our potential. Not to mention building chemistry with Edwards who needs time to learn our system. I think the real impact of this trade is going to be felt next season.
I'm going to opt to answer that question in January. It certainly will be interesting to see Sanchez continue to develop and how well Braylon fits in and performs.
Needs some time Edwards is a nasty receiver he proved that 2 years ago but its hard for a QB and a WR to get good chemistry in a week. He will get his completions but I think it will take some time for him to get good. Luckily our next games are all expected to be wins so by the time we go to the Pats hopefully we will see some nice plays out of Braylon
We need to find out 2 things. How fast can Edwards learn the playbook and find chemistry with Sanchez? Will the change of scenery help Braylon get back to where he was 2 years ago?
Too soon to tell, but I think the Jets have a better overall team team than the Pittsburgh team that won the Super Bowl with a very young Roethlisberger or the Ravens last year so we'll see.
Braylon Edwards has accomplished something only 1 WR in recent times as done. Randy Moss has done it multiple times but that is why hes Randy Moss. Edwards is the only other WR to grab 16 TDs in a year. Not only that but hes caught a pass for 75 yards EVERY single year hes been in the NFL. He can be a dominating WR and is a special talent. This is going to speed up Mark learning curve tremendously when you this type talent to throw to. It is going to have a ripple effect on our depth charts because now Cotchery will face #2 CBs. Ladies and gentleman we just covered up our biggest weakness.
Simply put..no. Edwards is a good WR, but the Jets still have problems in the way of an underachieving offensive line,a rookie QB still going through growing pains and an average pass rush. I know some of you will grab upon the last statement and say I'm crazy. But this defense still only has four sacks. They need much better production from the ends and not rely so much on blitz packages. Kris Jenkins has done a phenomonal job in the middle, but he can't be the only bringing the wood. So...as Damien Woody and several other Jets said after the loss to New Orleans,,,this team is a work in progress. Stay tuned.
It certainly gets us into the conversation but Sanchez needs to continue to develop. I’ll reserve my judgment until after the bye week and see where our QB stands in his development and chemistry with our #1 Wideout.
