It's not going to go away all together. HOWEVER, teams have to be very careful about putting 8 in the box now. This trade is going to do dividends for the running game, AND for Sanchez. Thoughts?
My thoughts exactly. I had feared all off season that is all the Jets would see as week after week went by with no upgrade at wideout. That's all in the past now.
I worry how long it will take Edwards to get up to speed. He needs to learn the plays, the checks, the reads. He and Sanchez need to build chemistry. A lot goes into this. Remember Roy Williams (a supposed #1 just like Edwards) was traded to Dallas at about the same point last year and didn't do jack crap all year. in fact several INTs were thrown because he and Romo weren't on the same page. These guys practice all summer for a reason.
Roy Williams still has done nothing in Dallas though. I hear you on the playbook though. For now, all they need to do is have him stretch the field. "Braylon, go deep"
Well edwards defintely has the speed to spread the field and big play ability and along side J-Co i think teams will now be fearing the pass game much more especially since they know Sanchez despite a rook can make all the throws.
Exactly, I have been on Patsfans and finheaven and that is what most of those idiots don't realize about this trade. They keep talking about his drops and his attitude. Winning cures alot of things, and alot of times it helps bad attitudes. He does drop some balls, but so has TO his whole career. Cotchery did well as a 1, when teams were shifting there coverage towards him. So now Cotchery won't b facing the double teams, Edwards will. And Edwards, most importantly has to b respected for the big play, which will affect the way teams play defense.
Very true. Ya know what else I love about this deal? Think about the flexibility it gives us in next years draft. What is our glaring weakness now that everyone will expect us to address in the draft? I don't know that we have one anymore. We can absolutely take the best player available.
So we're not supposed to throw the ball at all huh? I guess it had nothing to do with pressuring the QB by putting extra defenders in the box, and playing a zone D. You're right, this won't help at all.
Even if it takes him 7 weeks to be fully worked into the system, We can win the next 5 games without trusnik, stucky, and edawrds on the field. Then after the buy and we face NE again in week 11 we can start our playoff run. Brilliant timing for this trade.
I think despite Braylons' problems with catching and learning the playbook etc. the most important thing to take away from this is despite Braylon being the "#1", it could let Cotch be our #1 if even for this year. Cotchery is good guys, and now he's not our only threat.
The thought of Sanchez being comfortable in the pocket looking downfield at J-CO and Edwards, along with Keller is something we should all be giddy about.
I agree! I'm listening to morons calling WFAN right now killing this deal. "Character Issues"?! He punched a guy! Life goes on, who hasn't gotten into a scuffle. Those kind of fans make me sick.
Rich Cmini, quoted on SNY " no more man coverage on their receivers, the Jets will see more cover 2 and cover 3 defenses, which should open up room for TJ and DK" "he should also play on MNF with a small package of plays"
