I honestly don't think we are going to play a base 3-4 this year. I just can't see it happening with our personnel. Remember when Donnie came in and said he wanted to play more 3-4 well we didn't play it nearly as much as he made it seem we would and now Mangini hasn't even said we are going to be going to a 3-4 (I think the most he has ever said was like we would play a hybrid D or give a lot of different looks). Well the draft is over and so is free agency and we really didn't do anything to transition to a new scheme besides sign Kimo. So many of our players are questionable fits for a 3-4, Robertson, Hobson, Vilma, Thomas, etc. I just can't see us running the scheme full time. I mean if Mangini was smart he would pick the scheme which best fits our players and right now to me the seems like the 4-3. I do however expect to see some 3-4 mixed in I just think that right now we should play maybe 2/3 4-3, 1/3 3-4 then maybe next year go 2/3 3-4, 1/3 4-3 and then fully transition to the new scheme when we start to get Mangini guys in place on defense. The only thing that kinda makes me change my mind is the fact that we are stockpiling linebackers (Vilma, Hobson, Barton, Chatham, Kassel, Schlegel, etc.) and the Kimo signing but I still just don't see a Nose Tackle and edge rushers that we can rely which seems like the biggest part of the defense.

Mangini obviously likes the 3-4, and we can expect this to be our primary defense next year. Training camp is going to be a lot of fun for our Linebacker Corps.
Agreed. It will be an even longer season if we try to force the 3-4 on the guys we have. It would easier to take if we were only missing an outside linebacker or an Noise tackle, but we are atleast short two of those and Thomas is an question mark as the other outside line backer. I think we could just play to control the run with three or four big an strong Dline men, then shceme to get a rush on the quarterback with our Linebackers.

They've actually came out and said that? I missed it. I still bet you see the 4-3 alot and maybe even some 5-2. Forty-six anyone? I'm sure Mangini will mix it up alot just like his mentor.

they either said it on www.Nfl.com or before the jets improved their site it was on www.newyorkjets.com it was a 1 or 2 mouths ago it was was the main story.
