I was more shocked at the Ravens dropping so much and the Broncos being behind us at 4-0. Believe me I agree with the way it is now but I'm just not used to ESPN actually showing the Jets a little respect.
They moved the Ravens down too much. I agree with everything else they did though, given that fact. I'm not surprised the Jets moved up. I kind of expected the impact of their defense to sink in after the voters realized that the Jets have now shut down Schaub, Brady and Brees in the first 4 games. I just can't believe how good this defense is, but you can't fake it and do what they have done. We're looking at one of the great defenses of all time in it's first few games together. Now let's just hope they stay healthy.
Broncos are the worst undefeated team so far this year. They had two very lucky breaks against Bengals and Cowboys. Oh, and they also beat the Browns and Faders.
We gave up 10 pts to the #1 offense in the NFL, and scored 10 of our own. I don't see why we'd go down. The difference of the game were the TDs the Jets offense allowed. If the first pick 6 becomes a completed pass, and we don't fumble in the endzone, the scoreline would have read 17-10 Jets.
Does it feel like some pressure has been taken off due to the loss and, hopefully, we've passed the "letdown game" and can focus on doing what it takes to win?
except this wasn't a letdown game, it was just a game where the better team beat the Jets, and hopefully revealed what areas the Jets need to improve upon to be better than the Saints and the other elite teams by years end.
Yeah, I guess it's all a matter of how you look at it, but I am glad we lost to an NFC team, especially one so good and in a game where we really executed so well in every aspect except quarterbacking. We were in the game till the end because of our defense and special teams. That makes me feel good.
I caught this a little while ago and I was stunned. We're ranked ahead of the Patriots. The Patriots who won and are tied with us for the division lead. The Patriots who beat the previously undefeated, and previous week's #1 in the rankings, Baltimore Ravens. That's real, genuine respect. We didn't get respect like that last year after beating the Titans and Patriots. The only ranking I truly disagree with is that I think the Vikings and Ravens should be reversed. I'm not convinced that the Vikes won't burn out late in the year, whereas I believe the Ravens will be playing home games in late January. I'd also probably rank the Giants above the Colts, but with Eli's injury, it's possible that the Giants struggle a little more than they would have otherwise. I think maybe Denver is ranked too high as well. And Cinci is probably a couple spots too low. The 49ers, Packers, Chargers and maybe the Steelers could all be bumped up a little as well. But for the most part, except for Baltimore, I think this is a very fair rankings week.
I didn't say greatest, I said one of the greatest. This defense is better than any Jet's D that I've had the pleasure to watch. It beats out the 1985, 1998 and 2004 squads, all of which were quite good.
Prisco only knocked us down 1 spot to #6 with the following comment. Ahh, can you feel the love? http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/12322160
